Questions for The Rings of Power showrunners

"As for myself," said Eomer, "I have little knowledge of these deep matters; but I need it not."

In an upcoming (April 19th) All Hands at my company the two Rings of Power showrunners (J.D. Payne and Patrick McKay) are doing a "Fireside chat" and we've been given the chance to submit questions to the show runners.

If you have a question that you'd like me to submit

1. Please post your question below
2. Please post your questions before Friday April 15th 5:00 GMT-7

Assuming the answers to the questions don't require me to violate any disclosure agreements I'll go ahead and post the answers.

Romeran: Somewhere is this ringing a bell with me, but I can't find the clapper. In a matter of speaking. What are the showrunners? And what I do to have imagine with this? What in earth must virtual challenges be beyond the idea of roleplay? You are speaking in riddles kinda. Some enlightenment perhaps?
Just call me Aiks or Aikári. Notify is off.
Find me stuff in Gondolin.
And let us embark to Valinor!

What are the showrunners?
For this upcoming show: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Lord_ ... s_of_Power

A showrunner is typically a leading producer, often credited as an executive producer.

All I mean is that I have an opportunity to submit questions to the Showrunners for the upcoming show (the same show being discussed in these threads).

Questions could be like "What ages of middle-earth will we see in the show?" or "Will Elrond have blond hair?" or whatever you are interested in. No one has to submit questions, I'm just sharing the opportunity with other fanatics. Perhaps someone will come up with an interesting question.

Romeran: Hmm, thanks for explaining. I hadn't made the connection to that Amazon stuff. You're meaning the director of the movies. Would have been better if this was released in cinema. Everyone could see it then, anywhere around the world. I have no further questions then. Sorry.

Nice one! Confirm that they have to stick to the appendices? Or is that already confirmed and I missed the memo? Maybe ask why they didnt go with more A listers?

I believe the answer to the first one was given away here: https://lrmonline.com/news/what-materia ... -answered/
So what did Amazon buy? “We have the rights solely to The Fellowship of the Ring, The Two Towers, The Return of the King, the appendices, and The Hobbit,” Payne says. “And that is it. We do not have the rights to The Silmarillion, Unfinished Tales, The History of Middle-earth, or any of those other books.” That takes a huge chunk of lore off the table and has left Tolkien fans wondering how this duo plans to tell a Second Age story without access to those materials. “There’s a version of everything we need for the Second Age in the books we have the rights to,” McKay says. “As long as we’re painting within those lines and not egregiously contradicting something we don’t have the rights to, there’s a lot of leeway and room to dramatize and tell some of the best stories that [Tolkien] ever came up with.”

In particular they have access to LotR and TH material too. This means that (as implied in the above quotation) they can use things like “The Fall of Gil-galad” or “The Song of Eärendil” or the Prologue on Concerning Hobbits.

It sounds like they can get some things approved (like names) from the Tolkien Estate: https://twitter.com/theoneringnet/statu ... 29792?s=21 but if it's in the book it's fair game.

That's an interesting Q.

I have a question:
With the introduction of original character 'Carina' as Isildur's sister, will this character be in addition to Isildur and Anárion, or will she "replace" Anárion?

I submitted these questions but alas they did not answer them. In fact they ran out of time and did not answer any of the submitted questions  go figure. I did learn that there is a non-canon elf/human romance with a female human and male elf.

That's already been announced (their names are Bronwyn and Arondir), but I suppose we were unlikely to see any substantial revelations through a question and answer session.

Yeah I think the only unrevealed things they announced were a handful of actors for some of the roles that honestly I forgot. They did call it out as being unrevealed but I wasn't surprised enough by it to remember what they said
