This may be “copium” but until I actually see some episodes I’m going to remain cautiously optimistic. I don’t like to judge shows or tv based on teasers or trailers and the like.

I am optimistic. Will there be things that annoy me? Absolutely but I feel the trailer showed us more of a LOTR vibe than a Hobbit vibe so to me that's already a step in the right direction.

'Cautiously Optimistic' here. I'll save full judgement to when I've seen 2 or 3 episodes.

I dont mind changes, but that Elrond is SO wrong! Unfortunately I think he will have a prominent role, so might not make it through the whole season, which sucks as I was looking forward to it.

I've decided to just let myself enjoy it (unless something truly heinous occurs, and as someone who actually enjoyed the Hobbit movies, I think my definition of truly heinous is pretty limited), so I'm going with 'I will like anything that comes' 
I think if I end up disliking it, it'll be over it being a bad show, rather than a bad adaptation of the source material, and I have a feeling it's not going to be a bad show.

I add myself to the "cautiously optimistic" group, which happens to be fellow Gondorians. 
After The Hobbit movies I've pretty much come to accept any alteration, not that it'll mean I automatically like any alteration, but I've come to accept and expect them. Essentially changes won't shock me anymore (Thanks PJ!
). I mean the first Hobbit movie was ok, nothing spectacular, but I though it at least was an ok start to a trilogy. The other 2, all the changes didn't bother me, they were just really dull movies full of cliches, subpar script, meh visuals,...but I won't go on. It appears there will be tons of alterations in the series, but as long as the visuals are good and it's interesting (particularly the characters) then I'll likely enjoy it.
This was a pretty big change to my opinion from a few years ago when the series was first announced. I was dreading a GoT copy-cat series. Not that Tolkien was a stick-in-the-mud (I mean Turin does marry and gets his sister pregnant), but that's quite different from the gratuitous sex in the GoT series. After reading the Vanity Fair article, I've felt better about the show-runners in saying their intention was to make a series that's also suitable for a younger audience. There will of course be scary and difficult parts for them, but reading that article made me think, well that's how it was being 13 and reading the books for the first time too. So they're at least saying the right things, and I believe made a wise choice.
