The Golden Hall III (Meduseld OOC)
*settles down with a cup of tea* Not planning on leaving either, though taking it slow occasionally with random spurts of crazy posting. Besides, have to explore Rohan a bit and not be all Gondor-like.

I get what every one is saying above. I've had a crazy few weeks at school. I will be around as much as possible: I still have to get to Gondor and back with lemons for @Gwai-Gon Jinn

Having the plaza back has been a godsend for me. It's rekindled my creative muse, and being reunited with so many friends I haven't talked to in a long time has been amazing for my general self. I plan on staying for the long-term. I too am taking it slow, and trying to keep this a marathon, not a sprint now that I'm back at work. While the initial rush of activity and posting all over the place was fun and kept me busy when I was going stir-crazy, slow and relaxed is much better now.
That said, if people are waiting on me for posts, feel free to tag me with a reminder or poke me on discord. I'm horrible at remembering where I am posting, and am terribly scatterbrained sometimes.
Also, this week I may be fairly scarce. I will be checking in every day, but my laptop is dead and I'm waiting for the new power cord to give it life again. Until then I'm on a crappy laptop that no longer likes running anything but Internet Explorer, or my phone that hates letting me post on plaza. So while I'm here, posts will be restricted to major Cavalry stuff just for my sanity.

After @Aodh Hammerhelm's post, this just gave me an adorable mental image of a tiny living mouse running all over your keyboard trying to type for you!
@Calimir Sounds like you need a montage (shameless-plug-wink)

This Sunday 25th October is PoTS awareness day. No, its not a day to for admiring your saucepans and appreciating your woks (although by all means if you want to, be my guest!).
Postural Tachicardia Syndrome (or PoTS for short) is a rare condition that effects the autonomic nervous system and can be very disabling and in many cases is permanent. (see this link or for a really great explanation of the condition).
I was very recently diagnosed with PoTS after a few months of repeatedly experiencing repeated chest pains, heart palpitations, nausea and dizziness and presyncope symptoms. My poor heart keeps racing extra fast every time I stand up as though I just ran a race.
For me, it is all very raw and present. I'm still adjusting to being unable to stand for longer than a few minutes at a time, and only recently started receiving treatment. Its already had a dramatic impact on my life and the long term implications could be even worse. In all honesty, I'm feeling a bit terrified and emotional about it all.
Unfortunately for me, lockdown and home-working also increase the sense of isolation and bewilderment while trying to come to terms with this big change, because there is less chance to talk to people about what this diagnosis means to me and how it is impacting me on a day-to-day basis.
Thankfully the wonderful charity PoTS UK has been an anchor of stability and re-assurance for me during this worrying time. Their website and guidance is widely used by the general public and medical practitioners alike, and even my own cardiologist makes regular reference to it.
In support of this wonderful charity and to show solidarity to people like me who have been diagnosed with PoTS, I'm inviting my friends to WEAR PURPLE FOR POTS this weekend.
It would mean the world to me if people would consider posting and tagging me in our lovely Picture Thread some piccies of your beautifully purple-adorned selves to show your support for PoTS sufferers everywhere (I would also love to share some pictures with my work colleagues as part of an awareness drive so please let me know if you are happy for me to use your picture for this; it is perfectly fine if you are not and I promise not to use any pics without permission).
And if any of you are feeling especially generous and would like to donate to PoTS UK so they can continue supporting people like me, they accept text donations from as little as £1 as detailed on their donations and fundraising page.
Thank you for your time and support.

the face of his fathers -@Allacan ob Burzum My youngest daughter (now 40) was diagnosed with PoTS around 10-15 years ago, after undergoing every test imaginable trying to diagnose her problem. I don’t think it was widely recognized, even that recently. Thankfully, hers is not an extreme case and her episodes are much less frequent now. The beta blockers have really helped her.
I understand how frightening it is, having watched her go through episodes where she felt like she was having a heart attack. Hang in there, things can improve.

@Allacan ob Burzum, I know how scary it is to know something is wrong and not know what it is and go through tests and doctors and the waiting and waiting. I cannot imagine how much worse it would be to go through that right now and PoTS sounds difficult to diagnose. I am glad you can now move ahead with treatment and hopefully see some improvement... you know I am here if you ever want to reach out. <3 Thinking of you and offering my support.
@Aodh Hammerhelm and @Allacan ob Burzum
at this moment I am considering a mouse trap or a hammer! The touch pad apparently decided to delete itself from the laptop and now I cant get it back no matter what I try of tricks and I don't want to use a mouse (though a small cute one would perhaps be fun
). So me and the laptop is in a huge argument, can't tell who will win at the moment, but it takes away from my plaza time... buuu!
On another note, Alla, that sucks big time! News like that are hard to digest, and you can't come through it all either, which makes it worse. And this is a stupid time in our history to recieve such news. Lots of wishes for the medicines to work for you! And virtual hugs!

@Aodh Hammerhelm (or indeed anyone) If you ever fancy trying to develop a story in one night/day, let me know as I can try and co-ordinate my availability with yours so we can do some quick-fire RP to keep our minds fresh. I tried it recently with Taeth and it worked really well and was a lot of fun!
@Eléowyn Thank you so much for sharing that; I'm glad your daughter has been able to adjust and manage her condition. I can only imagine how hard it must have been to manage this kind of condition without any diagnosis - I kept worrying that I was just being lazy and unfit but every time I tried to be more active I ended up pre-syncope, and the chest pains were quite frankly terrifying! I was very lucky that my GP had heard of PoTS and suspected it as soon as I first called in, and I was seen by a cardiologist within 4 months who confirmed it and put me on Ivabradine, which has made everything so much easier. Things are already improving for me (albeit slowly) but I really feel for people who don't get the support or quick diagnosis I did, so much love to your daughter.
@Little Bird Lail Actually, although it was scary not knowing whether my health was compromised in the middle of a pandemic and made me super cautious about exposing myself, I was exceedingly lucky that I managed to catch the NHS between the two waves and I got the accelerated route. I haven't had to wait long at all to get seen and diagnosed. My GP didn't leave any stone un-turned and was determined to figure it out so we all knew what was happening and was checking results the day they came in and feeding back to me regularly, all the referrals were days or weeks (instead of the usual months/years with NHS backlogs). Even the hospital cardiologist came in to work early one day to see me and did every test he could manage that day, and checked the results before I left so he could do the 'follow-up' consultation and medication prescription that same day as well. I went from 'referral' to 'diagnosis, treatment and further investigations' in only a few hours! Even though I am sure hospital staff are stretched thin, really busy and probably exhausted from efforts so far, they all treated me as a priority and gave me top class treatment and I cannot fault them. Thanks to their efforts, I am now already getting better and even if it is months for the second wave to wind down before I am seen for a routine appointment again, my suffering during that period has been drastically reduced and I'm very unlikely to end up back in A&E adding to their workload in the interim. True heroes, our NHS, and my heart goes out to the staff at Salford Royal Hospital who are even now dealing with a massive spike in Covid cases. And for my part, I am counting my blessings that I fell ill between waves and not during one.
Also, I love the name change! It's both adorable and cunning at the same time, depending on how you interpret it; it really suits you!
@Amadhrill Digesting the news and adjusting during such turbulent times has definitely been the hardest part, yes. Thanks for your support; medication seems to be helping a lot but virtual hugs are gratefully received. Regarding the mouse; Jeremy Clarkson has proven time and again that the hammer can work, but my imagination prefers the idea of throwing the laptop out of the window and enjoying seeing it scatter into pieces. That said, if you actually wish the thing to work (Microsoft guidelines say "Go to the Action menu of Device manager and select Scan for Hardware changes to reinstall your drivers." but I imagine you have already tried that). I hope you get it resolved soon *crosses fingers*

I thought once Oct ended things would let up but it seems like it keeps rolling on through November.. Lailyn's house is in New Town. To be more specific, I imagined it somewhere around the the blue circle here. Anything else you need or want for plotting, just let me know!
@Allacan ob Burzum I hadn't tried that route, so thanks for the advice! So far however, it seems that the only way forward is to clean the entire laptop and have a new start... but I don't want to upload everything to some online server and start fresh with it. But at least now I have borrowed a mouse from my hubby, so I will try that way. If it bugs me too much, then it's the harder choice.

@Eléowyn I was thinking about that actually and I'm probably going to use my main character's youngest cousin, Rihannon de Argosy, for this little excursion to Rohan. She's the resident food lover and cook in my quirky merchant family from Pelargir, so she'd be a fine fit. :-) I can say she came to Rohan along with the medical aid sent from Gondor and decided to help out, or something :-)
