Can I just start by saying that the entire reason I do illustration for a living (at least for now) is partially owed to the Plaza? My formative years of fan art and posting them on here (however good or bad) really sent me to my career path, so thanks Plaza. I appreciate that.

And while I don't have much in way of fan art now-a-days (lots of dog portraits, tarot cards, and other illustrated bits-n-bobbins), I did just do this piece which pays homage to Tolkien in one of the boxed book sets, towards the middle. It's ink and marker with some color pencil on paper. 8" x 8".

(Hopefully this works? lol)

Anyway, if y'all have any art, please feel free to share it :)

Very cool! I can't draw to save my life but if we had a like button here I'd click it for sure.

That is beautiful Naur, stunning level of detail and I love the colours. It makes me think of a modern take on the old illustrated medieval manuscripts. Is all your work in this style?

I love that this is a true reader's book case as well - the book facing the wrong way from the box set on the forth shelf, and the books stacked all over the place in different ways looks very like my own bookcase - finish a book, can't wait to read the next one, place the old book on the bookcase (that counts as putting it away!) wherever it lands, grab the next one and continue.

Must have taken you ages with all that line work?

Fairy Nuff: I totally agree on the old illustrated medieval manuscripts.

Naur: My favorite part of this piece is that its not subdued. The colors pop and are well spread out. It’s just a beautiful piece. I really like the style. Can’t wait to see more of your stuff.

I remember spending a lot of time on the Plaza writing poetry and browsing the beautiful artwork that people like Naur created and being in complete awe of their talent. I've had the wonderful opportunity to follow Naur's art career as we've kept in touch over the years, and even own an original work and a print of hers, displayed prominently on my wall! The Plaza was always such a wonderful haven for creative types of all kinds, and everyone was always so amazing and supportive of those endeavors. It may have been this atmosphere that most helped me through my teenage years largely unscathed!

All my own musings aside, I love this piece of yours, Naur. I'm always in awe of the sharpness and intentionality of your line work, and the fact that you've packed so many colors into this piece is amazing. Your stuff is gorgeous, and this certainly sits right up there with the rest of them!

Naur - That is awesome! I always love to hear how the plaza (and Lord of the Rings) has shaped peoples lives! Your artwork is amazing by the way! I love the colors and lines in that piece!
I used to spend most of my time on the plaza in the art and poetry threads!

Naur, that's wonderful! If you had a copy of the orginial without the coloring-in, you could sell this (or at least make lots of people happy and stress-free!). This reminds me of watching all of the At Home tv shows during the quarantine because I love looking behind the news-casters & actors to see what their house looks like or what they're reading. Also, I always turn the page sideways on a magazine if there are books in the background in someone's house.

Eldy: Ahaha, social media has us trained. I've tried to like several posts. Thanks!
Fairy Nuff: Yes, most of my work is like this! And I am totally inspired by illuminated manuscripts. I once held one from the 1400's and there was a lot of fan girling lol. This was a commission as well, the person sent me her bookshelf and a few requests (I added the LotR part though!). It took about a week to do, thanks to quarantine! Thanks for looking.
Oro: Thank you!! Colors are amazing
Reik: Ahhh thank you for always being so dang supportive!! And you're totally right, the support provided by the Plaza has always been amazing. You gonna post some poetry soon?
Sidra: Thank you!! Yeah the art and poetry threads are the best. So many talented individuals!
Findy: Ah yes! Thank you! That reminds me, I'll throw up all the free coloring pages I have here...

When quarantine first started, I began offering free coloring pages. You do have to give an address but it can be fake lol...some of them are in rough condition, but if you are especially bored feel free to download, print, and color 'em!

Wow Naur, that is beautiful! I'll be sure to go and download it. I can't draw very well, but I do love colouring in fancy pages.

Holy cow, Naur! That is insane. The amount of line work necessary for that. I’m sitting here speechless. I keep zooming into different portions to see the lines and how insane it is. I love particularly the little details like the beetle on the Daily Prophet, Dobby holding a sock, the owl at the tower in the top right corner. You have me floored. I want a copy of this one!

Oh wow, that is some intense level detail on that Naur, how did you not go cross-eyed making it? I've looked at it a couple of times and still see bits that I missed the last time, there must be so many details woven into it. I think I love Hedwig carrying a message the best, just tucked in there all subtle like, doing her job. Though the cupboard under the stairs is also awesome, and Hagrid's hut and....oh ok I just love it all.

Wow! Was it hours, days or weeks to create this artwork? The detail in it is just magnificent. It takes me half a day to put all the little leaves on my Huorns and other tree characters. There is even more detail in this work. Then to color the sections in the image on the first post. That's a lot of work. It would take me days to make an image like that. Words to describe this art--patience and skill.

You did a very nice job with these pieces. My work really doesn't hold to candle to all the work you put into this art.

Woah! This Harry Potter piece is brilliant. Honestly I feel like I could stare at it for ages and keep getting lost in it. That must have been wild to work on. What made you start doing that style of work? Did you learn it somewhere? I'm definitely going to download some pages for coloring, thank you so much for sharing them. I love getting absorbed in little details; it's calming. It's also nice to have the link to be able to zoom over it and get a closer look at your work.

@Naur! I remember your artwork with great awe and esteem. It's so good to see you sharing it here again. That Harry Potter coloring page is truly, truly incredible. I echo Toasty's sentiments of being able to stare at it at length - I want to find all the little easter eggs (for lack of a better term)!

Naur, I'm in LOVE with the bookshelf piece. The colors are so gorgeous--I just want to reach out and take something off the shelf to read! I took a look at the coloring pages too and my goodness, the *detail* you put into your work! They're all gorgeous, but I think the one with the little bear and the mountain range is my favorite--it's like a whole miniature world in there, that you could get lost in. Thank you so much for sharing!

@Naur At first glance, I thought the first pic was a coloring book, then I saw you also made coloring pages! I love it all, and am in awe of the hard work that goes behind that kind of talent. :D

Wow @Naur! I am very impressed with your talents! I really love your style, especially how colorful it is. I love that I can look at all the small details, like the pretty book spines, the steaming mug of coffee or tea (up to the viewer I suppose), the dolphins. Each piece tells a story, but when you step back and look at the whole thing it, too, has a story to tell. Very neat.

I also love the Harry Potter one. I'm just so impressed at the tiny details but also the myriad of themes and the over-arching story of the Boy Who Lived. Thank you for sharing these beautiful pieces!
