I wandered long in solitude
playing idyllic tunes with a lute.
Time passed like a breeze through the grass;
my youth was of little repute.
Then our lives crossed paths and entwined.
Your eyes sparkled and so did mine.
We walked in the day and lay in the night.
Those years with you were truly sublime.
Sun, oh Sun.
Light shines bright.
Days pass by.
Night ends quick.
I sat there in front of you
playing cheerful tunes with a lute.
Time passed like a breeze through the grass;
our lives worthy of song.
The seasons drifted onwards.
Your eyes grew duller.
Each night less warmth.
We both sigh together
as your duty called you forward.
Flames and blood, screams and pain,
yells echoing long through the eve.
Ambitions spread through the four seas,
Is all you lost worth what you gained?
Moon, oh Moon.
Pale dim light.
Nights are long.
Days pass by.
Thus I wait here in solitude
playing wistful tunes with a lute.
When suddenly a knock on the door
and my lute falls to the floor.
Sun, oh Sun.
Light shines bright.
Tears fall 'til
face turns white.
So I stay here
standing where you lay,
as my years go by
recalling my youth of little repute.
Rivvy's Out-of-Context Poetry and Songs
This is quite a sad poem! I really like the refrains calling back to the Sun and Moon as the seasons change - and the nature of the song played on the lute changes too, fitting the mood, from idyllic to cheerful to wistful.

Thank you @Silky Gooseness! Yes, I just sort of went with it, using some storytelling technique and some spontaneous ideas, so creating the refrains reinforces ideas to the reader.
Hi Rivvy, as Silky voiced, it is quite a sad poem, but not less beautiful. Untitled yet I guess you inspired it on a First Age tragic hero, but I can be wrong. If you have more poems, please share them! It is cool to read something else of your creation.

@Aikári Salmarinian Thank you! It wasn't really a First Age tragic hero in terms of the lyrics, but it sure can be applied to one. I'll post more poems when they come up.
