PRELUDE: please have a look over HERE first to get caught up on the latest exciting developments

So then -- here we are, early in the new term and we're down a couple of exemplary admins. And as you may not be shocked to learn, this i-dunno-we'll-figure-things-out-as-we-go site owner did not have a contingency plan for this scenario, so it's time to think about what happens next.

First off: until we get a whole admin team back in action, I'll be semi-coming-out of my semi-retirement to help our remaining exemplary admin @Winddancer out with running the day-to-day of things. I can't promise great performance out of myself in this arena but hopefully I'll be of sufficient help for us handle anything that needs handling for the next bit.

Second, for getting a new team together, I'll kind of take point on it since leaving that to an admin team of one would be rather awkward for Winddy. I have some ideas about how we can handle this, but I'd really like to get thoughts from all of you too before I make a decision on that.

Potential options I'm thinking of include:

- We could use the results of the December 2021 election to fill the two vacancies on the team (ie I'd ask the 4th- and 5th-place votegetters if they're still up for the job and bring them in for the rest of the current term);
- We could hold a special election for just these 2 vacancies, and then another in June at the regular interval;
- We could say 'ok that was short term but let's try that again' and do a reset-type election for all three positions, and then let that mark the start of a new 6-month term and do elections in Feb and... August I guess it would be, going forward;
- We could do some other better thing than all of these which my meagre mind has not yet envisioned, but that you can explain to it.

I'll be checking the ol election email at lotrplazaelection [at] gmail [dot] com regularly this coming week as I think about which of those is gonna be the right move. If you'd like to provide any comments on our options please do send me a message there and let me know. And while I promise to keep any comments confidential as always, feel free also to use an anonymous email if you'd prefer - I'm just interested in getting any and all feedback here so please do that in whatever way feels right for you (including posting here if you'd prefer, though I'd kinda prefer the emails to get everyone's unfiltered & uninfluenced thoughts).

Hoping to hear from you all, and apologies for the bother on behalf of us all, and as always please feel free to contact me if you have any other questions or concerns about any of this. thanks everyone :smile:

I am posting here some guiding advice as my thoughts about this are not privvy.

In general, I would go for surveying first (admin team was just installed after a succesful election) if the remaining adminstrators want to continue on or put their seats up for election (the own free choice). With this result I have a foundation what sort of route to take on and can plan which of the options are appliable, and see what the input of all members are. This way I'll respect the sitting people what choice they want to take, know how many seats are open for vacancy and give everyone else a route to know what to expect.

I guess it wasn't made 100% clear what was happening to me.

I have chosen not to resign and will be helping Narv do the admin stuff until more come in. As for whether I get to stay, well that is up to the members to decide.

Tell Narv what you would prefer, whether it is a brand new election, partial election and so on. If I am not voted back in, there will of course be a transition period (the length depending on whether it is new or "old" admins) and I will do everything I can to make sure they get to learn the ropes in regards to using the trib system and using the admin tools on threads before going, just like with every transition. And would also of course be available for after, though there are a fair few to chose from to get help there as well.

If you guys have any questions for us, please just ask. We are happy to answer both here and on Discord :)

@Ancalagon the Black If you look in this thread here: viewtopic.php?f=8&t=883 that should answer some of that :)
