Goose honked loudly and angrily. Something large had swum past his outstretched beak and pushed him roughly into the coarse rushes, whereupon he had come up only with a beak full of reeds again. He spat them out viciously and flapped his feet crossly as he shuffled back onto the bank, where he spotted some children!
Goose hated children. Happy children were the worst.
Quietly as possible Goose sidled up behind them, his white form camouflaged against the ice. Once he was close he HONKED as loudly as possible and beat his wings. One of the children, startled, dropped a box! Quickly Goose darted in and stole it, flapping away hastily with his loot.
It was full of cookies! Although Goose was already full of fish, there was always room for cookies. He gulped one down with complete lack of appreciation for the delicate Elven icing and, crumbs dotting his feathers, lurched off to do more fishing.

Bruinen Winter Classic - Fishing Game
cave anserem
Drifa threw the boot on top of the ruined pack. She was getting a little worried that she might be pulling up a waterlogged dwarf next. Sighing she looked at the sun as it nodded it's way towards the west - it's rays casting light upon the ice, making it appear like the stars had descended upon it's surface. She then scooped some slush from her fishing hole (the drop in temperature making the water freeze faster), when she heard the sound of laughter and singing.
A group of elves (luckily not the inebriated bunch) were dancing towards the anglers giving out small boxes. As they approached her and handed her a box, she could see that they were young elves (no more than a 2000 years old she guessed (...On Earth while an elf-child did but grow to be a man or a woman, in some 3000 years... -HoME 10)), all perfect in everyway. Smiling, she bowed her thanks, then opened box.
It was filled with cookies. Three different kinds of cookies and to the old dwarf's amazement, they were shaped like, muskies!! - small, medium and large muskie cookies. There also appeared to be words in white icing in delicate elven script upon each cookie. The small cookies had the word YOU written on them. The medium sized ones had the word, CANNOT; and the large ones read, CATCH ME!!.
'YOU CANNOT CATCH ME!, humph! We shall see about that!' she snorted as she bit the head off of one of the large muskie cookies and dropped her line in the slushy water.

Apologies for the delay in ending this!
@Beowulf Alas you start eating the cookies AFTER you drop your toad in and the crumbs stay on the top of the ice and you end up with nothing but weeds when you finally do pull your line up. Perhaps you'll have enough after this to supply your spa for a while. - 0 pts
@Sil you manage to gulp down a cookie and get yourself covered in crumbs before you go for another fish. A very large Northern Pike gets a hold of your tail having chased after you trailing cookie crumbs behind you. - 5pts
@Drifa You get a bit of cookie crumbs in the hole as you drop your line it is enough to get a sturgeon to bite, but alas it seems the elven children and their cookies were right. And somewhere in the deep of the Bruinen there is an old wise Muskie chuckling at all your attempts. -10pts
