On the evening after the final day of the Summer Festival, three separate fires broke out across the city of Edoras. Thanks to the quick actions of both residents and visitors they were all extinguished before they could ravage the city too badly and a sudden summer storm bringing a quick downpour of rain ensured that no embers remained. A number of homes have been lost, significant damage done, a few sustained injuries and there has been one confirmed fatality.
Now the denizens of Edoras face another equally difficult task; recovering and rebuilding after the blaze swept so indiscriminately across the city. For many, the long day and longer night has taken its toll and a number of people will need rest for their weariness. Some are left without a place to do so and must be provided temporary accommodation, but Thali has kindly offered bed and board at the Edoras Infirmary to any who may be in need of sanctuary and refuge. Many will seek out loved ones and be relieved and delighted at the reunions. For a small number, it is now a time to grieve. No matter each person's personal experience, one thing is for certain; Rohirric songs and tales will be told of this night for many years to come.
Rules:-
1) This is an IC thread, ideally role-play posts should be 200 characters or more
2) No godmodding without express prior permission from the relevant player
3) This thread is open to any kingdom, and from the Final Update onwards will be open, free RP without any further TR updates or interventions.
4) No more fires, please! (At least for now)
5) If you wish to roleplay a particular story without being interrupted or others joining in, please mark your post as 'private RP' or 'Invite only'
6) During any investigative actions or clean-up process, please remember the previous rule 6, that absolutely no animals were harmed in this fire, and please refrain from any graphic depictions of people being who were hurt or lost in the flames. The Rohir responded extremely quickly and many of the places that were set alight were evacuated swiftly. So far there is only one confirmed casualty; Gléonild, Beda's mother. If people wish for other characters to have been lost in the fire then that is their choice, however as previously specified no children, horses or animals of any kind were harmed or killed in the fires.
7) Locations of extinguished fires have been listed below and colour-co-ordinated to help differentiate locations but you need not honour these in your posts if you do not want to.
Possible RP locations

The After-Party Tent and the Cavalry Muster Field
(Text colour #008000)
The first conflagration erupted in the midst of the Festival After-Party, in the middle of the ongoing celebrations during a prophetic song number by Allacan, although many now are beginning to suspect that she was aware of the imminent inferno or perhaps one of those responsible for it. All that remains of the tent now is a burnt scorch mark on the muster field and a patch of burnt canvas near the city wall. A number of citizens wander the dark fields beyond after fleeing from the fires, though some are now beginning to return to the capital.
The Horse and Rider Inn
(Text colour #000080)
Even those inside the pub have no idea how this fire started, but some suspect arson. This is the fire that started last, and the one that caused the death. Many are passionate to have their questions about what caused this destruction and loss answered, and now the embers have cooled, then remnants of the pub can be sifted through for clues. (@Eldrith if you want to be add to this feel free)
Auld Town Residential District
(Text colour #804000)
The fire from the Horse and Rider Inn spread through the close streets of Auld Town, destroying an entire row of homes. Other residences were cut down to create the fire-brake which was the only thing that stopped the fire from claiming the whole district, and the neighbourhood will take some time to recover.
The Æthelmund Tavern
(Text colour #670088)
The start of the Æthelmund pub was witnessed by at least three cavalry officers, and this coupled with the fact that the pub itself and all the property damages by its secondary fires is cavalry property suggests the cavalry will deal with the investigation themselves. Thankfully, other than some flash burns and a few splinters it does not appear that anyone was serious injured in these fires, but there is a lot to rebuild. The fire itself was the most impressive of them all and the hardest to put out, and a strange collapsed line of dirt running from away from the tavern, turning a right angle and disappearing beneath the walls of the Courtyard is raising a few curious eyebrows.
The Empty Campian Arena
(Text colour #FF40BF)
The flames from the Æthelmund pub spread to the old Campian halls, a refurbished stables that sat on the edge of the Cavalry Courtyard as a neutral weapons training ground. The building, with its training ring, spectator stands and store room was almost completely gutted by the fires, but mayhap some things can be salvaged from the flames and put to use another day.
The Dragon Room
(Text colour #FF8000)
The Dragon Room was perhaps the only building to sustain a dual assault, but thankfully both of minimal level and quickly extinguished. Even while a strange vent in the Larmaegister's office was billowing smoke from a forgotten tunnel, the roof itself had caught embers from the Campian Hall carried on the strong wind and had started to burn, but was thankfully extinguished before too much damage was done. The Dragon Room was in one piece, although it might be a bit leakier than usual until the roof was properly repaired.
Cavalry Pop-Up Infirmary
(Text colour #000000)
Set-up by Thalionwen but now reinforced by a number of cavalry and civilian healers (NPCs), the open space between the the Riddermarket and The Golden Hall itself has currently been filled by a large healers tent, where many can come to get emergency care after the fires. As the night wears on, injured cavalry soldiers may be directed to the Cavalry Infirmary in the Cavalry Courtyard while others will likely be directed towards the Edoras Infirmary a short walk outside the city walls.
(Original opening post is below)

The capital city of the Riddermark has recently been unfortunate enough to suffer mishap and arson. A number of conspiracies and gatherings have inconveniently come to fruition in one single night; on the last night of the summer festival, while some have taken to the bed and others engage in late night revelries, the city of Edoras is roused as three locations in Edoras are suddenly consumed by flame.
OOC This is going to be a fast paced thread, to reflect how quickly a conflagration like this spreads in a predominantly wood and thatch city like Edoras, especially in the middle of the hot weather experienced during the festival.
There will be updates posted approximately every 48 hours. Every RP post made contributes to slowing or putting out one of the fires. Each fire ‘location’ has a pre-determined number of posts required to put it out. Too few posts may lead to certain fires spreading to new locations. The thread will start with three fire locations reflecting recent events across Edoras. In the event the fire spreads to new places, new locations will be posted in the updates.
When posting your fire-fighting efforts please feel free to be creative about how you fight the fires and the use of random citizens as NPCs to help you, or the passage of time while you do so.
Regarding cavalry NPCs though, other than those secondary NPCs named on the cavalry roster, I would kindly ask that the use of NPC cavalry soldiers be reserved (at least initially) to those who hold the rank of cavalry Marshal, who may opt to delegate NPC patrols/corthors to aid others however they see fit.
Rules:-
1) This is an IC RP thread; roleplay posts should be 200 characters or more, but there are no special bonuses for lengthy posts so feel free to keep them brief if you wish
2) No godmodding without express prior permission from the relevant player
3) This is a ‘post if/when you can’ thread - you do not need to commit to posting throughout the whole thread to contribute, it can be assumed that many in the city are roused to the fire-fighting efforts and you need not worry about roleplay it out every moment of the night; just being involved is beneficial
4) Anyone from any kingdom may join in, as long as you have a PC who could reasonably be within Edoras at the time of the fires, you do not need to have already posted in Rohan to get involved (ents might want to stay clear though!) Please do respect the rule below though.
5) This is a team-effort thread, so please co-operate and be respectful to your co-players. If you try and add fuel to the fire or hinder the rescue efforts, your character will be arrested by the Marshals and likely imprisoned.
6) Absolutely no animals will be harmed in this fire, and please refrain from any graphic depictions of people being hurt or lost in the flames. The Rohir responded extremely quickly and many of the places that were set alight were evacuated swiftly. If people feel the need to sacrifice their characters dramatically then that is their choice, however any posts that refer to a child or horse (or any other animal for that matter) being harmed or killed will be disregarded by the GM, who will ask other roleplayers to do likewise. By all means feel free to roleplay rescuing animals and vulnerable people, but out of respect to those who may be sensitive to such topics, please go easy on the victim horror.
7) As dramatic as we all love to be, try to refrain from spreading the fire in your roleplay descriptions; the updates will describe when and how the fires are spreading, and we don’t want to accidentally burn the whole city down because people got carried away.
8) Please put OOC comments in white at the end of your post or, if they are lengthy, put them in Golden Hall and tag the appropriate person.
9) Fire locations have been given a specific colour to help people keep track of what is happening where; posting in these colours is not essential but may with co-operation and interaction.

FIRST UPDATE
Late in the night during the closing celebrations of the Summer Festival, the alarm bells ring out over Edoras, a continual tolling of alert that soon rouses the city from their beds. Voices and cries can be heard in the street, and in some places the panicked screams of human and horse alike. The skies above Edoras have suddenly changed from black to auburn as no less than three locations go up in flame in quick succession.

The After-Party Tent
(Text colour #008000)
The first fire erupted in the Festival After-Party tent outside of Edoras on the cavalry muster fields, which burst into a swift conflagration mid-celebration. Thankfully most escaped with only minimal injuries and the fire, quickly burning through the bulk of its fuel, had fallen into smouldering embers. Efforts were still being made to douse these when suddenly a powerful South-Easterly wind had blown in, fuelling the embers into fresh flames that caught on the dry grasses of the fields around the city and drove the flames towards the tall city walls. If this re-kindled fire is left to burn unattended, embers may be carried by the wind onto the thatch of those houses closest to the city outskirts and the Rohir could have a much larger problem on their hands.

The Aethelmund Tavern
(Text colour #670088)
Second to erupt into flame in an unexpectedly ferocious manner is the old Aethelmund Pub, the cavalry tavern, left derelict for some time and in dire need of refurbishment. Whatever started the fire had taken place close to the pub’s alcohol stores, which had exploded into flame with impressive ferocity. @Taethowen and a few others are already on the scene here, coordinating the cavalry efforts to contain the fire, but as the swift South-Easterly wind suddenly fans the flames to even greater heights, the inferno threatening to catch onto the nearby show ring and stalls that had many years ago been re-purposes as the Campian training arena, and if it catches across these spaciously erected stands there was significant risk it may then spread deeper into the cavalry courtyard towards the Dragon Room and Barracks.

The Horse and Rider Inn
(Text colour #000080)
The final fire began much more subtly, even as the bells were ringing out in summons to beat back the other infernos. Near the entrance to Edoras built in a ramshackle district of the city is the recently erected Horse and Rider Inn. Here, the fire mysteriously starts in the basement and swiftly spreads to the rest of the building. Even those present within the tavern as yet have no idea of how it happened
