@Durien I'm eagerly following the Queen's Quest and if I'll jump in either as my character Nessa (if available), or as an NPC. That is of course if someone else doesn't jump in before me. Boy don't I sound athletic with all of those jumping ins and whatnots :smiley9:

@Winddancer - you are a devious and cruel mistress :smiley9: I was planing to keep both Thea and the boy at the Houses for 24 hours for observation, but if you'd like to make him a bit worse for wear sure, no problem. Just don't give me internal bleeding, I don't want to write drilling a hole in his skull just now :smiley9:

Re the becoming a healer part: if I my memory serves me right back in the days of yore you'd have to RP coming to the Houses and expressing your desire to become a healer and then you'd be assigned a senior healer as your mentor and a few tasks you'd have to write about with your mentor present to evaluate your work. I can't remember who was my mentor, maybe @Pele Alarion? After an X amount of tasks you'd be promoted to healer. If I'm talking nonsense please correct me.

@Winddancer lol you can still pay the grandma if you want. ;) Also if its anything like the past when I was a Healer, I would say probably yes 15 posts. Course that was MANY years ago I was a Healer in Gondor and I don't remember much. And I can now only speak for the process in Rohan which is 10 posts. LOL.

@Nessa Saelind I won't kill him off or make you drill his skull, promise! :P But would like it to be a bit more severe, so that some questions have to be asked kind of thing :P

@Rowena Ellenweorc I would love to! But best leave it to the healers, cause it sounds like she is one of the healers :)

And it isnt a random number btw, that is in the HoH top post. I will finish up Thea in there and then come ask to be trained, cause it seems the healers are going to be a bit busy atm anyways :P

@Winddancer, the healer training: the thought is to have 5 basic stuff learning things, then assisting the healer means just that - the healer is working with the patient, and the trainee is helping with whatever is needed and learning, and exam is the trainee working and the healer mostly observing and assisting where necessary.

Oi, there is so much activity going on in HoH... Have to catch up.

@Winddancer :D much obliged. I think I figured out what to do, athelas will come to the rescue.

BTW if it's all right with everyone regarding the influx of people at the Reception area I was thinking of dragging back good old Ralph the Receptionist :smiley9: from the Plaza archives. My plan was to write a post this afternoon, playing him as an NPC who would acknowledge the people who arrived and tried to sort out where they need to go, who they need to see, and then everyone else or their NPC healer can step in when they can and take over. What do you folks think? If you already started to write something feel free to send me to scrub some chamber pots or something :smiley9:

@Winddancer nah, the grandma's a poor soul who's been poisoned with some non-descript poison from the Isen that has been the cause of death or cause of near death for a few family members already. I'm thinking that may be part of why Rowena has come because she's overly familiar with the poison and uncertain if the HoH folks are familiar. LOL. But maybe I'll just get off my lazy hindquarters and RP her myself -- I'm starting to get more ideas now that I think about it HAHAHA

@Nessa Saelind I'm fine with general greeting post though having someone to RP with would be nice.

SOOOO My offer for any open RPers still stands. ;) Feel free to interrupt even once Rowena's directed where to go!

The big Hello, welcome to the Houses of Healing how may we be of assistance :smiley9: post is up. Please feel free to step in, poach patients or enjoy poor Ralph's predicament. :D

Well @Rowena Ellenweorc I hope I managed to provide a fairly good and grammatically correct greeting :smiley9: in addition to someone to RP with. Matilda, my NPC, is a young woman in her 20s who started working as a nurse in the Houses a bit before the War and stayed after. She usually takes care of patients in the recovery rooms, and as a nurse she spends more time with them than healers, so I thought she might be a better fit to your RP. I hope it's ok *hugs*

@Nessa Saelind *dies laughing* OH BOY-- Matilda is everything Rowena despises about Gondorians all rolled into one-- A strawhead Gondorian who speaks Rohirric rates very very very low on her trust-meter. Thank Bema Rowena's daughter is far more reasonable and actually doesn't mind Gondorians as long as they keep their hands to themselves. This is going to be highly entertaining. Also the whole nurse idea sounds fantastic.

Just as a heads up, surrounding the poison -- there's no known cure (yet) for it, and so the treatment is more about the treatment of symptoms. If caught early, its survivable, but it is very fatal once the most predominant symptoms occur. Basically it's a neurotoxin that the first symptom is a loss of reason/psychosis. Usually the psychosis leads to irrational behaviors, and then it leads to muscle weakness, fatigue, memory loss, language loss, high grade fevers, fainting spells, and various other ailmets. It did lead in Rowena's case to damage to her vocal chords as well, but that may have been because of the way it was administered. Obviously age also plays a factor in mortality rates. I'm guessing that the Grandmother since she's older probably would have been brought in during the psychosis period since she's still alive. :P Shoot me an email at rowena.annis@ gmail.com if you want me to send you some other case profiles for a better idea of the nature of the poison. (I have a number of them... I want to say 5?)

@Rowena Ellenweorc *snorts* I had a feeling my little eager beaver would be a source of amusement and massive eye rolls :smiley9: I love using stereotypes and playing with them see what comes up; so I can't wait to see how this little idea will turn out. I'll send you an e-mail during my lunch break or in the afternoon, depending on when I'll have more time to type. :-) Feel free to give me all the info dump.

@Winddancer I haven't forgotten you or Tom, I just didn't have time to type out the ideas I wrote in my notepad and format them into a something half sensible and coherent. But it's *movie guy announcer voice* coming soon. :smiley9:

@Nessa Saelind In regards to your ooc, I do! But I kinda dont want it to be Thea, cause I think she will be in trouble :P And I didnt want to post and ask with so many waiting in the reception atm. Unless the one Thea goes to get is my new trainee? Or is that too confusing and the skipping he reception post not allowed?

@Winddancer if you want another NPC of yours to be a trainee you can ask at the reception, Ralph would be delighted to have you and send you to make concoctions for Lady Arwen :smiley9: I'm ok with both of your suggestions. :-)

Btw I have a feeling we can make a good nurse out of Thea ;-)

Oh and we still need a healer or an apothecary or a NPC one for the Queen's Quest folks. Any volunteers?

Hello! Thanks for your well-wishes! So far I've been to the doctor, had xrays done, got prescriptions and next week I'm seeing an orthopedic surgeon. After that probably PT, so we'll see how it goes. Consider this research for working in the HoH. :smiley9:

@Finduilas Faelivrin, oh bother. That sounds like a whole lot of doctor visits and all that. Not a very nice research, I'd say... :smiley12:

@Nessa Saelind, I might bring out an NPC to deal with those Queen's requests, if necessary. Have almost caught up with my list of posts, so could jump in.

@Nessa Saelind @Pele Alarion

I can also jump in with an npc over the weekend. There’s going to be a pretty steady stream of them for awhile. I’ve been having a bit of an insane week in rl, so I’m a little behind in everything.

@Finduilas Faelivrin that's a full schedule! I shall mark orthopaedic consultant next to your name on Ralph's the Receptionist bingo card healers worksheet :smiley9:

@Pele Alarion @Durien if you can I'd absolutely love to see your posts there. I don't mind jumping in and holding the fort until RL stops being annoying :-) aka please do come and save Ralph before he blurts out that the Queen is with child and the Houses explode with excitement and gossip for the possibility of a royal heir :smiley9:

I'm having slight technical problems aka the keyboard on my laptop decided that after a 12 hour typing day enough was enough and died on me. What a drama queuen I know :D I'm trying to get it sorted by heading to the office this afternoon and borrowing a spare one that I have there *fingers crossed* so I'm going to be a bit behind my writing responses schedule I've planned. :smiley16: But I'll get to it even if I have to type on my cell.

Heh, Nessa, that is how I usually like to work - with additional keyboard, got used to it while working with a laptop the keyboard of which had retired from overuse.

So... Let me see what I can do in HoH...

@Winddancer turtle here saw your post, worry ye not! My plate is full these days because bossman swamped me and my colleague with work and we're alternating between doing our jobs and calming him down because bossman is in full panic mode, so when I get home my brain is mush. But hopefully panic mode is over and things are getting back to normal at work, so I'll have something for you by Friday :-)

It's really not a chore, or a hardship. :-) Maybe I haven't said it enough, but I'm having a lot of fun writing responses, although Thea is stubborn as a mule sometimes  It's just that this topsy turvy situation at work sucks the life out of everything, and since I'm also stubborn as a mule sometimes I power through it and write because there's no way I'm letting work ruin my fun. :D

LMAO I don't think it really matters... Rohan hasn't specified what year it is there besides the fact it's fourth age *obviously has not read post yet* so you could say its 3000 years into the fourth age and it wouldn't matter.

Better late than never! <3

Btw a question to all the healers and about becoming one. Do you have to do the training to be a healer? Or can you start with an npc that is already a healer? I ask cause I am not that interested in training to be a healer, but would like to rp a healer if that makes sense? It's also a little in part that it requires 15 posts and there are not that many active healers around :( But mostly cause I just want to jump right in there! I am not a newb with healing though! Played one in various kingdoms and am a healthcare assistant in rl if that helps :P
Also you haven't listed who is a healer, so those that do want to train know who can train them.

@Winddancer as far as I could figure things out Durien and Pele are healers, Findy mainly worked and still works in the apothecary. I mentioned that my PC is an apprentice healer, honestly because I was feeling a lot rusty  If I figured this correctly. Please feel free to correct me if I crossed my wires.

I can only speak for myself, but honestly I think it would be ok if you (or anyonw interested) NPC a healer (I've read your posts after the battle of Pelennor in HoH and they're awesome! *hugs*) in the Houses. So few of us are active here, because of various reasons, and that's OK. Such is life, strange things happen. I would rather see the Houses thrive and people post creative and interesting content there rather than to insist on the rules we had when we had more members and the HoH thread was active.

Of course this is just my opinion, I don't want to speak for anyone else. However, I'm all in the spirit of Nu Plaza, flexibility, have fun, be respectful.

Nessa, I suppose you got the list of healers right. :D

Windy, do you have something planned? Perhaps I wouldn't mind you playing a healer, though the thought of giving you all sorts of weird training tasks is very appealing.

In terms of activity, I'm around; just waiting for Durien to fix me up, and haven't decided on a new story line just yet.
