Hey all, hope you're all enjoying the nostalgia blast - seems like overall people kinda like this which is super cool to see.

But I can really take very little credit for anything original at all here. The special Plaza look we've all been missing is really the work of many hardworking people of eras past - in particular John Howe for his frame art and, of course Protoguy for the icons and other art that were and are such an important part of the Plaza!

So this thread is just for shouting out Protoguy for generously letting us use those again - without them I probably wouldn't even have bothered with the rest honestly. And also, if people would like to show their appreciation in a more concrete form, Protoguy has a PayPal at protoguy11 [at] yahoo [dot] com where you can send him a tip if you feel so inclined (you'll need a PayPal account if you choose to do that).

That's all - happy plazaing

Sent something to him.

I highly encourage this if you are able to spare something. Protoguy is an artist (a great one at that) and I'm sure many of you know that artists are often asked to work for free or very little by those who undervalue their labor or don't realize that it as much (or more) a career as it is a hobby. I'm sure it would mean a lot to him to know that we recognize his work as an artist.

Of course not everyone has the cash to spare, especially in these crazy times. None of us expect it, least of all Protoguy. But those that do, please consider!

Peeg I don't know if you're going to read this or not but THANK YOU SO MUCH for allowing Narv/us to use your art! Visually it's really what makes the plaza the plaza. Sending some appreciation :D

Absolutely awesome to see all the beautiful artwork again. Have spent the last two years regretting not having saved a single screenshot of the website I loved so much. THANKS PEEG!!! Please treat yourself to a lockdown beverage on me (once I've remembered how to log into paypal).

WELL MET!!

First of all - thank you so much for the tips/donations/being awesome! You guys are the best, as always!
Plaza peeps are the main reason the Plaza is an amazing place and now once again Plaza peeps are the reason the Plaza is even alive. I think this is it's 4th or 5th re-build/reincarnation.

It's funny, I've always been bugged by the Main page's color scheme, but anything else would be wrong and bad and I'd be the first to petition back to puke Ochre, brown and manilla folder beige.

Love you guys!!

ps., The Hobbit movies are turrible *runs

Yay! Welcome back! Er... Re-back? It's not really back since it isn't what it was, but it kind of is.

WAIT HOLD THE PHONE WHERE IS THE BUTT EMOTICON

:moon: was it, right?

EDIT: I should have known that would make a moon. It was a mooning emoticon.

No, it turned and it was just a head, and then it's lil smile went up and down a few times after it turned around.

Oof that's a terrible explanation...

Thank you so much Peeg for letting us use your beautiful icons. Then they redid the Plaza, it, well, wasn't quite the same.

Thank you Peeg, your art is as always so full of character, it is the flavour of the Plaza. I licked it, it doesn't taste the same without it.
Glad to see your face here :)

Nice to see you here Peeg, and thank you again - if it wasn't for you, I would have had to spend the last 3 weeks of free time doing like.. exercise, or bettering myself in some way. :smiley12:

Peeeeg! So glad to see you here! I agree about the hoppit movies. The Dwarves looked stupid and the whole Tauriel subplot was puke. I actually have not seen the third installment. I see lots of familiar names in here. It's been so long ago that I don't even know the year I joined. :smiley16:

Yes what's with Bifur having an ax in his head? And the Dwarves hair and beards were just bizarre.

Yeah, I haven't seen the third one and only saw parts of the second. My daughter keeps sending me Snaps of the awfulness. The only thing I enjoyed was Beorn. Everything else was like what old people think nerds like in their Middle Earth soap opera. "Hey! Can you destroy my heroes and wipe your butt with my childhood? Sweet, thanks PJ."

:smiley9: And Peeg explains the second reason why most people originally came to the Plaza - to moan about PJ.

(The first being to fawn over Legolas, obvsly!)

Where a vomit smiley when I need one. I hated the Taurel deal. If they wanted females, why not a female Dwarf? That would have been interesting.

I didn’t absolutely hate the Hobbit movies. That being said, to be honest I have to say that I didn’t love them either. I guess part of the problem was (1) that they tried to make another freaking trilogy, and out of a book that had maybe enough material for one film. (2) It definitely wasn’t canon. However, each of the three films had moments that were fine. While I still have my original DVD copies of LOTR, and even upgraded to Blu-ray, I’ve never purchased copies of the three Hobbit movies, so that should tell you something there.

Hey everybody!!

As you may have noticed, the admins now have shiny new faces. There was quite a but of discussion about the idea of admin icons when Nu Plaza first appeared, including among the admin team once elected, so we wanted to let you in on our reasoning for deciding to use them.

1. Support a long time plaza artist, @Peeg. We commissioned the icons from him, and they are as gorgeous as expected! If anyone wants to send some extra love Peeg's way, you can tip him via PayPal at protoguy11 [at] yahoo [dot] com . We are so grateful for his generosity in letting us use all his art that makes the Plaza look like the Plaza!

2. Make it clearer, visually, who the admins are when looking at the forum. As we continue to grow, and with the prospect of admins changing each election, we felt it was important for members to be able to quickly identify the team.

@Narv elected to stay with his Cave Troll icon, and we thank @Lirimaer for adding the Admin text to it!

That's it! Thank you again Peeg.

Y'all look gorgeous. I'm glad you have decided to choose characters you like, which are different! Great job!
