Aewen's Creative Corner

This is my attempt to clear out my hard drive be more creative and publish some photos I've taken in the last few years. I have this horrible habit of taking photographs but never posting them online, although I'd like to share them. They're nothing special but I like to take a closer look at small things that could go on unnoticed, which would be a shame. Usually, that means a lot of focus hunting by me and annoyed grunting by people who wait on me.

Will I keep it up? I'm not sure but starting is the first step.

Please let me know if these are too off-topic and I'll switch to posting pictures with more of a Middle Earth-esque flavour. There are plenty of nature shots hanging around. :)

A sight, unforeseen: a lizard hanging out in a display window, looking out on a cobbled street. I don't know why exactly it was there, as the place certainly wasn't a pet shop nor an animal shelter, but I hope this guy had a good life.

I've always wanted to try this technique and I'm happy to have made a semi-decent attempt. The focus is soft, so the sun rays aren't as crisp as they should be, but you have to start somewhere, right?

Damn that first one is awesome. Somehow you managed to get the lizard looking like right at you. Very impressive. If you don't mind asking how many photos did you take? My wife is always taking like hundreds of shots and then picks the best ones. Makes me think maybe I should be doing that

That second one is lovely too. Reminds me of the scene in the beginning of No Time to Die they have a shot that's like this and, if memory serves, the camera goes through the bell-tower area to capture the scene on the other side. Cool stuff @Aewen !

@Aewen! Welcome to CoLP! I'm so glad you decided to share some of your photos with us, it helps make this place just that much brighter and full of life

I love the shot of the lizard, but my favorite is by far the church (I'm guessing it's a church at least from context clues), I think the sunrays come off brilliantly, you angled it just right so it draws attention to the bell. Superbly done!

And as the dear dragon said, don't limit yourself just to ME related bits and bobs, we want to see everything you can show us! (also do enter the art contest because more entries is always a wonderful thing!)

Look at the BABY I mean lizard! Did the lizard actually have that much red/orange coloring, or was that a light that was on it?

I love the second one too, as a lighting designer it's super appealing to me, with the sun peeking through at the exact right spot, the high contrast, and the gentle gradient of the sky. Personally I think you hit the focus of the rays just right, any sharper and they'd be jarring to my eye.

Welcome and some awesome shots... I haven't seen an iguana like that for years now in person love the coloration of it and the crispness you have for the focus on it's face and scales that softens gorgeous.

And I'm with Moriel, everything about the second photo is on the money for me as well especially in that the sharpness of the rays is at the right level it would be too jarring with the softness and contrast you have going on.
