It’s interesting that the article suggests the Shadow is for authoritarianism and production, for example, whilst the West is for kingship - but also decentralisation. How do we marry these concepts together - what is true kingship, in Tolkien’s world? Is a king only needful in times of war, and otherwise may be left as a quiet Ranger? Or is kingship as a concept always right and just, but sans authoritarianism, and with his power decentralised?
