! Great to have you back! You were a fabulous Maedhros :smiley8: . You can have Beleg! I'm looking forward to your longer posts again. I've missed your historical writing!
Sil you can have the unfortunate minstrel!
Y'all make me happy. We haven't had this many people for Ages of Arda since Flight of the Noldor and Destiny's Way! :smiley8:

I'm here I'm here. Yes Maedhros. Finrod if you want during the Beren stuff. I might take Beleg... I think I'll do that. I"m gonna drop my NPC locations because that was what most of my posting was in here before lol if anyone wants to start something or interact with them, im open to it, otherwise ill just do my own thing with them, most of them are connected to the others somehow:
Tinnuial, Melethril (just close maiden friends) and Aniron (crafts arrows and small weapons) live in Eglarest, one of the Falas cities
Celebrin and Curancal, though from the Falas, are on Tol Sirion guarding Minas Tirith
Niphred and Celair are on the northern edge of Doriath going in and out of there like scouts and stuff
Naurlhir serves Aegnor/Angrod, dis bad boy gonna die in fire
Olorea with a young Niphredin (just a maiden, two of those vowels have accents but im sick of copy pasta so this is her name now lol) in Caranthir's fortress at mount rerir. Niphredin is Niphred's son, but he doesn't know he exists
Dryvin and Suidoll are a couple of unreliable dark elves wandering around trying to be spies
Darman is a blond man that i planned on throwing away in some haldad haleth something or whatever that happens

Maedhros is all yours, brother :smiley8: ! I'll be Finrod still but I'll let you play out his death when the battle with the werewolf comes and saying goodbye to Beren before he dies, @Celebrin! Since you started off as him well, I want you to play the very end for the charming king. Lain's got Beleg. Is there another character besides Maedhros and Finrod's last moments you want, Celebrin?
I have Girion in the Falas with Tharmaras so they can know Tinnuial and Melethril and Aniron.
I have Caranfindel, Iella, and Elfaron in Minas Tirith so he'll know Celebrin and Curancal.
If Niphred and Celair are marchwardens, I have Sillandhas up there on Doriath's border!
Are Dryvin and Suidoll good spies or are they servants of Morgoth? I know my Dark Elf, Crabanel (Tharmaras' first wife), gets captured and taken to Angband and scared into serving him (Tolkien writes about Elves being used by him for the Bragollach fallout).
Could Darman die in the battle of the stockade when Haleth rises up?
Alma has Mablung, brother, but would you like to be Cirdan.... :D I'm going to bed but I'll check here when I wake up!

if it comes time, and no one claimed Cirdan, ill play him a bit. draw me circles and I'll colour them in, metaphorically speaking. I dont wanna take on too much.

Those icons! Ah, my heart!
@Celebrin Long time no see! Wow, AOA is taking me way back. I had a fairly active NPC, Arindil, under Maedhros for a while. He was slated to die...maybe in the sacking of Sirion? Yeah, the longer I think about it the more that rings a bell. He was a brash warrior, officer type, but I've got a lot of those running around so maybe transform him into some kind of scout, or give him a son? Anyways, if you need someone to order around...
Also, I'm pretty sure I lost track of my NPC icons when I lost my old computer, but if you do happen to run into Arindil, Nemir, kid-Aerlinn or Ellindale for some reason I'd love to have them.
Speaking of...oooooh noooooooooooooo @Aigronding Mordagnir! Youthful Follies of Ellindale the Soap Opera, coming up.

@Celebrin , I'll update the Vacancy list in this thread to show you've got Orodreth and Cirdan! Let me know if you see a Tom Cruise Valkyrie icon for Telkelion and Diane Kruger Troy icon for Aerlinn's Ellindale because those were the final represensations of them instead of the artwork and Billie Piper.
@Sil , I'll mark you down for the Ill-Fated Werewolf who Finrod Messed Up!
@Ercassie , thanks for creating the Vacancy List for the Rivendell Archives to update for me
! I have to get ready for church but let me know which mortal you want of Barahir's companions on Messenger and I'll update the list in here to show you've taken while you remove the mortal from the Archives one. We definitely need to get more of the humans taken now.

Just to add as a reminder if we’re using icons featuring other artist’s works it’s good form to credit the artist and get their permission. But I assume if these are older icons this has already been done :smiley10:

+1 to @Sil's comment about artist credit.
@Aigronding Mordagnir - re: Varda, I would in theory, but I think it might also make sense to let the election play out first. That way, if a new admin should take on that rank and want to play her, there isn't any swapping or weirdness or anything. What do you think?
Re: Ages of Arda IV: Mantle of Darkness - Historical RPG OOC Thread & Sign-ups

by Eriol
@Sil , all of them are older, many years in the past, and permission granted, most of them created for the Undying Lands subforum of Isengard before I became a ruler. So no worries
!
We'll let Varda stay open until Sign-ups are done, @Tarawen , but if an admin is chosen who wants to play Varda then she bestowed upon her/him. I have to leave for work soon but I'll have more time to talk late tonight on Messenger after my long shift
!
Just a reminder for anyone wanting to play one of Barahir's Companions: To help you flesh them out we do know they were servants of Barahir, they had dwellings were destroyed in Dorthonion, and they had wives and children who were either captured, slain, or fled with Emeldir. Yes, they're just names, but one of the major benefits of Ages of Arda is that we give personality and backstory and depth to characters which are spoken so little about

You can take the Street of Flames, Cassie! I hope he's easily angered and a great warrior with a sarcastic response for everything.
! I'll have Hathaldir be nicer than my Hatholdir. Jocular axeman. I'll have him annoy Rad with his cheerful optimism

Rad: "I was just choked by a demonic spirit. How is this looking on the bright side, kid?"

@Turin Ringhûn , thank you so much for keeping these treasures safe all these years, old friend :smiley8:
! I'll show your album and Celebrin's icons in the Archives sometime today along with the Dramatis Personae!
@Ercassie reminded me about the NPC Roster we started making before the Plaza shut down. So if y'all want to give me the list of allll your epic NPCs, you can start submitting them to the Rivendell Archives. Maybe say something in it like "My Ages of Arda NPCs." Give a short blurb about who they are like I've done with the canon characters here.
Everyone, @Moriel informed me today that she had Ungoliant, Ossë, Ingwë, and Nerdanel from before the Old Plaza shutdown so I'll be updating the Dramatis Personae today to reflect her ownership.

To minimize me interacting too much with canon characters of my care, @Celebrin and I are switching roles :smiley8: ! He will fully play Finrod as he did so often before the latter half of CoE. I will be Orodreth for the first time, once belonging to Hallas (I miss him). So brother and I will still have death scenes! I just live a little bit longer...

We need Huor or we won't have Tuor! That's cosmical, @Celebrin
.
@Dimcairien Luiniel , you're welcome to have Huorbn
! I think he's mosted noted for being Hurin's brother who also visited Gondolin, is the father of Tuor, got shot in the eye with a poisoned arrow at Nirnaeth (Next RPG, you live for two, congrats
) and died :smiley10: . He's all yours, Dimmy! Now we need his wife, Rian.
@Ercassie could you update the Vacancy list again, please?

I have taken Huor and the sentient Horse (

) off the Archives Vacancy list
@Aigronding Mordagnir
As per your request, these are the non-canon/my own folks, I am bringing to play:
Nariel, a handmaiden of Idril. Raised in Gondolin. Daughter of Feapoldie and Laegon.
Feapoldie, a dance instructor in Gondolin. Noldorin Exile. Wife of Laegon, mother of Nariel. Ex-fiancé of Erfaron. Dies in Fall of Gondolin.
Laegon, a Sinda of the House of Swallow in Gondolin. Husband of Feapoldie, father of Nariel. Dies in Fall of Gondolin,
Tirindo, Noldo Exile of the House of Swallow in Gondolin. Brother of Feapoldie, father of Culasso.
Culasso, of the House of Swallow. Son of Tirindo. Dies in Nirnaeth Arnoediad.
Mallosel, Sinda Marchwarden of Doriath. Sister to Laegon. Daughter of Solchon.
Solchon, emissary of Thingol to Denethor of the Nandor. Father to Laegon and Mallosel. Thrall of Melkor since the First Battle of Beleriand
Erfaron, Former Feanorien transfer to serve Fingolfin. After the Nirnaeth Arnoediad, joins House of Mole in Gondolin. Ex-fiancé of Feapoldie
Ospiel, Sinda Scout native to Lammoth. Served Fingolfin of Hithlum. Later serves Hatholdir Narroval after Fall of Gondolin
Herumacil, Feanorien Captain, served Maglor since Maedhros' capture. An enemy of Earenolwe. Thrall of Melkor after Nirnaeth Arnoediad
Dalvar, Lieutenant to Herumacil/succeeds as Captain after Nirnaeth. Feanorien in service to Maglor. Dies in Third Kinslaying at Sirion.
Sarnir, father of Erfaron. Former Captain and Feanorien founder of Herumacil's small unit. Died in the First Kinslaying at Alqualonde (flashback appearances/mention)
Konrauko, a Balrog. Anarchist and pyromaniac, though often idle. Servant of Melkor.
Mawg, a Werewolf. Named the 'Ravenous'. Servant of Melkor
Shytha, a sinister spy type Maia of little importance overall but much creepiness throughout. Servant of Melkor.
Various mortal ancestors of my Gondorian characters. Too many to mention throughout the course of history.
And that is why I have so few actual canon characters
