It's okay, @Aodh Hammerhelm, I actually *prefer* for people to confuse me with @Taethowen as often as possible, as it provides me with an air-tight alibi if I get up to Plaza hijinks.
Not that I would EVER :smiley8:

I think that we should suspend the pub during the festival time or make it a festival pub and use that as the food/ general rp thread.. it can run shorter or longer than the usual ones and consist of fairground food stalls, or anything of that kind.. If we combine it with the Market that might be too much, though it could also work if we set it up as one temporary place.. and put pause on the regular market as well as the pub..

@Thalionwen Done. Hope I'm okay to have my shop in it while assisting. Also, just wanted to check if my email to you got through? Had a thought that as I'd never emailed you before it might not have appeared or something :)

@Eldrith I think that's kind of along the lines of what's being planned. That most of the other things 'free RP' things will kind of 'close up' during the Festival, and we'll have one general RP thread (which at this point was just planned to be the Riddermarket, since no one had chimed in with pub stuff) and then some of the more intense/specialized games (Miss Meduseld, for one) would be in their own threads.
I doubt @Shivased would have a problem with the pub stuff being in with the general/Riddermarket RP stuff, though! It's definitely time to start figuring out all the logistics of everything.

Yeah, I figured we would close down other general RP threads like the Riddermarket and pub, and just have everything combined for now. Otherwise I'm not sure people could keep up with everything!
@Eldrith and @Thalionwen if you want to combine stuff into one big thread (pub, market, etc.) and have the scavenger hunt based out of there (this is how it's working, right? I confused myself and can't remember now :P) that's great. I leave it up to you to decide!

@Eldrith, what are your thoughts on this? Do you want to run separate pub/fair food and fairground/Riddermarket threads, or combine the two? I'm happy either way

It actually might lend clarity if we separated them, though, and keep one thread from getting too backed up or overwhelmed. Let me know what your preference is, and we can sort out how we'll handle it
Re: Summer Festival Planning

Both models have advantages and disadvantages.. one possibility though is keep two separate threads but make them 'versions' of the regular ones. Pause the riddermarket but have all the shops temporarily put out stalls, so the locations and everything would be the same. We could easily usurp the pub in that.. just make it temporarily one more stall in the Riddermarket. This may work particularly well if i can get my timing right for other things...
On the other hand, separating them will have the threads moving slightly slower and make it easier for people to keep up if there is a LOT of interest. You would have a better idea on that one.. I like both options but yeah we should make a decision so we can work on the set up! What do you personally prefer?

I'm so torn
@Eldrith do you want to shoot me an email (laura(dot)weymouth(at)hotmail(dot)com) and we can hash out pros/cons and if we do decide to combine, work together on the thread's intro post? That way we won't consume this thread with our coordinating efforts

@Eldrith @Thalionwen,
The idea of a Riddermarket as fairground, with seperate stalls for the usual shop owners, is a good one. The pub in the same thread (as a beer garden or similar) would also work well.
As numbers aren't great as they were in 2003---2010 the thread should be well visited.

Has it been 'officially' decided that the set-up for the summer festival will be fairgrounds-style? Gonna try to whip up the opening post for Miss Meduseld tomorrow and wanted to know for description purposes! :smiley8:

Fairground style - yes, think we'd reached that consensus.
I've seen your Shire Banner invite, it looks super and should draw some Shirelings into the Festival.

When are we going to be beginning the summer festival, so I can make sure I have an OP and banner ready. I've run the Tourney to become Champion rules by my very experienced role-player boyfriend who has suggested some tweaks, but if anyone else wants to give it a read over I'm happy to email/message the draft.

@Elvheimdros , @Elarith is knocking the rules and game play into shape.
Folk can take part IC or with NPCs. We hope to have enough folk signed up to draw up ten teams.
We'll update you here as soon as we've finalised things.

@Thalionwen Thank you so much! It's perfect. And I will keep my eyes on it. Things should be slowing down a bit now. Hopefully. LOL I am awaiting further instructions from the museum. Uniform is ready to get back on! (I lost weight! Yay!)
Quick question, do we want to put a pause post in the Pub for now? Just keep the RP frozen so most of similar interaction can go to the Festival threads and then unfreeze after in the same time? Or should they run concurrent?

@Elarith wait it’s still June? What day is it? Where am I? (Thanks for pointing that out)
Edited and gave sign-ups a couple more days. Hopefully a few people will have time to play, and if not then I’ll just pause the game for another time - this festival is pretty busy already and I know I’m already struggling to keep up with things, so as long as I can convince my anxiety it’s people’s time limit and not the idea.

@Elarith and/or
@Aodh Hammerhelm, a couple questions about the Tub Race:
- How many stages rest camps are there?
- I noticed this round everybody's at the first rest camp, but in terms of total moves there's a range from 22-29, how is this represented in the contest? Do Drowned in the Rapids get yellow jerseys for the next stage?
- Is each stage (a) about equally long and (b) about equally dangerous?
Re: Summer Festival Planning

by Aodh Hammerhelm
@Elvheimdros
Thanks for the questies (some of which we've been asking ourselves :smiley10: )
- The Race is planned to have Three Rounds with 3 to 4 Rolls. There will be a Rest and Repair camp at the end of Stage 1 and 2. Each team gets 5 repair points added to their HIT total if they reach an R & R Camp.
- We have a game board (poorly drawn) for each Stage to throw up scenarios for the Teams as they move along. The final throw of a Stage will take everyone (unless they've sunk) to the Rest Camp or Finish Line. So, yeah, moves are physical, but for the final roll the MOVE points indicate TIME, and are used to represent the crossing of the line/speed of each team.
- The Race Leader will carry a yellow article of some kind in Round 2 and 3
- (a) Stage 2 and 3 will be similar in length to Round 1. (b) Hazards aplenty along the Entwash, but look out for the chance to grab EXTRA REPAIR points.
Silæs will post a Leader Board at the start of each new stage. And a map if he can find one.

We’ve just been having a chat and decided to leave it at 2 stages. So we’re effectively at the half way mark now. This is the one and only rest camp.

Aye-aye, Cap'n Ræd, it's a good plan. 5 throws or so and we'll be placing the
