This reminds me of Lavazza and now I can't stop thinking about coffee.
Some Proper Admins: Call for Nominations
Might a make a suggestion? Make it a bit easier on yourself and use a Google form for the voting. At least that way it will compile all the results in a single place for you.
NuPlaza or Narvia works for me for the nickname *g*
Also, I agree with Taethowen that a Google Form might work better for something like this - just to make it a little easier on ya

In the spirit of "OMG Admins" and "Look what I found!"
I went back through some very, very old files and found this gem, which must have been made for the plaza's fifth anniversary.
That font! Those colors. The style!

I will have to agree. Oligarchy is the word. There are also what seemed to be an 'In' crowd too.Rowena Ellenweorc wrote: ↑Tue Jun 02, 2020 7:25 pmWinddancer wrote: ↑Tue Jun 02, 2020 7:07 pmI do think that is Narv's vision with this place and I do believe we are all loving the less is more when it comes to admins. I absolutely love how it is now, where we can pretty much just do what we like (within reason). I mean here we are so well "raised" that we dont even go into other kingdoms and make threads, though technically we can lol. I would love it if the new team do like the Trio are doing it now, cause I think that is what will keep this place going longer and with less gripes. No one is going to covet the admin role or be jealous of admins, if the admin isnt the one getting to say what we can or cannot do (in terms of activities), right?Rowena Ellenweorc wrote: ↑Tue Jun 02, 2020 7:00 pm Whatever the case, I suggest we keep this election method going rather than leaving it to valinor to appoint the hierarchy. Old plaza was an Oligarchy, that in the end resulted in it's demise. More power and trust needs to placed in the people instead of it being in the hands of an elite few
Oh my gosh, you hit the nail on the head with that last phrase.... You pretty much just summed up the definition of rulering in the Oligarchy!!!!!
A good leader does indeed listen to their people.Dimcairien Luiniel wrote: ↑Tue Jun 02, 2020 7:10 pm![]()
Agreed. We all had experience with the Oligarchy and how frustrating it got at points. It's important for the Admin team to get new blood, and from a wide range of experience. I personally have no experience with modding an online place, but I am willing to learn, and I have some leadership experience under my belt.
Also, a firm belief I have in regards to leadership (whatever the context) is that leaders need to train other leaders. And when applicable, leaders ought to collaborate with others outside of the leadership team, though in the case of a major decision, the leaders (working as a team) make the final say.
I will tentatively put my name forward and I have experience removing spam and tidying up threads, if a title is mispelled and other issues. I can also move them, if they need to be moved to a better home.
Send your name to the email given in the top post @Oak :)
We haven’t forgotten about this guys, there is some behind the scenes work going on, and making sure all our nominees are up to speed before we start
And big thanks to everyone for being so engaged with the process!

I'm too old and too lacking in energy. Kudos to those who are willing to take this on!
In case my email never found its way to you peeps, I gladly accept all nominations.
@Rowena Ellenweorc it took my brain a bit but it finally clicked on Rowena while I was traveling the archives. Hoho man, it's so good to be back and see you again!
The nominations have been collected and compiled at last! See here: viewtopic.php?f=8&t=265
Since that thread is just gonna be for the nominees to post a little public blurb on themselves, I'll leave this open for further meta-discussion if people are still into that.
On that note, thanks @Taethowen and @Joel Cotton for the Google Form suggestion - as I think Sil mentioned to you we're kinda split on that, as while it would probably make things easier on our end, it's not completely immune to shenanigans (entering an email address on the form would mitigate, but not totally solve, those issues). Given the split decision and since this is the first time we're doing this, I'm leaning toward sticking with the email route as it worked fine for the nominations and is the most accessible and secure (everyone who registered has an email, and while you can in theory put anyone's email on a google form, you can only ever send one from your own email).

Since we're now considering the applicants for this first admin election, it would be helpful (to me) to know how many votes we are going to be allowed to cast. (And it might be nice to know how many you anticipate your team will be made up of.)
Thank you.
Thank you.
@Lirimaer Our thinking is to do 3 votes per person (ranked choice, so 3 points to your first pic and one point to your third pick), yielding 3 elected admins. Then I'll have my 'Narv pick' to fill in a gap in skills / timezone / availability / what have you. So the resulting team will be 5, including me.
Ok thanks, I appreciate the info.
