Ohhh I LOVE it the skeletal face is quite creepy! Not quite human and not quite animalistic somewhere between the two it looks! absolutely stunning did you scape the bare off if it yourselves to finish it or did it natural wear down that way?

Thanks Tara and Fuin! There was no bark left on it. We suspect that it developed a common hardwood disease. It was still solid maple when we cut it but eventually it would have rotted away. I used a soft brush to clean it, and yes we put polyurethane on it mostly to protect it. 👍

I have missed quite a few things here I see! I love the lily, its gorgeous, they are my favorite flower. And of course, the bird nest. What a lovely shade of blue! I definitely see the skeletal face in the maple branch. I feel like there could be a poem or story waiting to be told in that face...

Thanks Lailyn! :smooch:

I took this photo with my phone sitting at a picnic table today. I added a boarder in my paint editor. It kind of reminds me of something you would see on Conch St. in Bikini Bottom, at the bottom of the sea. My husband says it looks like a knot in the wood. :googly:

On first glance this looked like a satellite image of a really remote, rugged landscape to me and that was a canyon or crater with cracks in the dry ground! So cool that different eyes have different perspectives and interpretations of the same thing.

That picnic table definitely has a lot of tiny holes... But I find the picture rather fascinating, though knowing what it is doesn't permit my imagination to roam into providing any other explanation of what it could be.

It's a really neat photo it tool me several moments to realize that the toy jack looking thing was a flower base without the petals. It's an excellent crisp shot that looks a bit like it's been over exposed on purpose slight? (wiping some of the details in the flower base thinger) really neat looking and makes the 'knot' look interesting.

Thanks, Lailyn !Yes, that is the fun part, hearing what others see. I saw a little pufferfish floating on its side, an eye and a beak-like mouth.
Thanks, Pele! I shall not tell you what it is next time, hahaha. :smooch:

Thanks, Fuin! I had my phone up super close and was surprised by the way it looked also. No editing. The phone camera just did some funky stuff, I guess.

I was playing with my macro lens last weekend. I got some shots of a very small bee on the mint flower. And some sort of fly. I am still trying to figure the lens out. There always seems to be a blurry spot where I don't want it. But, the photos are still kind of cool, if you like insects.

These are excellent shots with such a narrow focus and the fact you've got the bugs heads in focus is excellent and I just love the details that you can see in their bodies eyes and wings. And the iridescence on the fly is amazing (even if I hate flies they annoy me so bad)

I'll admit I would have thought wasp not bee on that first one lol

Oh wow, excellent use of the macro lens on these latest shots, Drifa! The sharpness of the fly’s eyes and the bright body in the second one are especially eye-catching.

Thank you, Fuin and Marceline! :smooch: Yeah, it is a small bee. You can tell by the shape of its head.

I just finished reading, Ray Bradbury's The Martian Chronicles. I wonder if one lived on Mars long enough, they would have different shaped ears? Or two-dimensional heads with brows that ended in mid-air with no hair?

Lovely insects though! At least in pictures.

Hmmm. I suppose the person could then decorate eyebrows and such with some plants/bushes...

I imagine ears would probably get different shaped if one wore a helmet long enough to the point it would become genetically passed down... that's how animals have de evolved eyes in caves. It's definitely an interesting thing to think about and your art goes with it quite well...

I imagine plants and bushes would be decorations only for the super rich unless mars is fully terraformed... I can't see it not needing all the oxygen producing plants it can get.
