Update: Blurbs are in, let's vote! Please send your TOP FOUR picks (ordered by preference) to lotrplazaelection (at) gmail (dot) com!

Alright everyone, we have our slate of nominees! Once again it's a super solid bunch and it looks like we'll be in good hands no matter how the results pan out. If you don't see someone you nominated on this list, it means they have graciously declined to be admins for this round** - but please don't hesitate to nominate them in the future, as circumstances can change!

(** UNLESS I made some horrible mistake. I tried not to but it's possible. If you nominated yourself, agreed to be nominated, or nominated someone whom you're sure would have accepted, and you don't see the name on the list below, please send an email to lotrplazaelection [at] gmail [dot] com and we'll sort it out ASAP.)

What this thread is for

NOMINEES: Please post a brief blurb about yourself, how you'd approach the admin role, wild plaza hot-takes... or anything you want. See here for how we did this last time: viewtopic.php?f=8&t=647. A key note from that thread: your post can be a lil longer if you want, but please also give us something short (like, a couple sentences) to include here in the top post. Please also include your timezone and we'll stick that up here too, and if any of you namechangers want a more permanent name added alongside your current one, include that and we'll add it too.

EVERYONE: Once all our nominees have a chance to post their blurbs, we'll start the vote!

Please leave this thread just for the nominees to post their blurbs. I'll leave the other election thread open, so please feel free to direct any questions / comments / whatever over that way.

So then, here they are in alphabetical order: The Nominees:

@Fuin Elda
Timezone: I'm CST with daylight savings but let's be honest I am up far later than I should be 90% of the time. Sil can verify I tend to still be awake when she wakes up lol
Blurb: Honestly I've been here long enough at this point and active enough that I'd like to think that speaks for me, but if any one has any questions I'm happy to answer them

@Goosil
Timezone: GMT
Blurb: hello it’s me Sil. Today is my three hundred and ninety eighth plaza day! I hope you are all enjoying yourselves as much as I am. I shall not keep you long. I have called you all together for a Purpose. Indeed, for Three Purposes! First of all, to tell you that I am immensely fond of you all, and that 398 Plaza Days is too short a time to live among such excellent and admirable plazanites.

I don't know half of you half as well as I should like; and I like less than half of you half as well as you deserve...

And thirdly that I’m pretty chill, and I haven’t broken plaza yet, and I love all of you

@Lailyn
Timezone: PST
Blurb: I don't really have much to say, I'm happy with the way things have been so far. I want to keep seeing members make decisions and provide feedback whether you're here once a day, once a week, once a month, etc. I want to keep up the chill vibes. I want others to feel as comfortable as I have being creative and writing stories, trying new things and discussing lore. Basically these are my ideals for us all regardless of who wins. I am sometimes silly, love to joke around and have a laugh but some things I do take very seriously and being an admin would definitely be one of them.

@Moriel
Timezone: HST
Blurb: Like I said last time, it has been my privilege to serve this community as an admin, now for the first year of NuPlaza. I think I've done the job well, and if you agree, it would be my honor to continue that service. I'll add that I was unsure when I started grad school in January whether I would be able to run again this time, but am happy to report that while my overall posting has slowed down, I've still had plenty of time to fulfill my duties as an admin! No matter the outcome of this election, I will of course do my best to help the next team's transition be as smooth as possible.

@Nessa Saelind
Timezone: GMT + 1 (DST at the moment until Ms von der Leyen decides otherwise; but as I mentioned elsewhere if you have any comments, questions and concerns my DMs are like a saloon, open 24/7)
Blurb: You all know me from hits like "I am a Woman of a Certain Age™"; "Can the NPF please pour a bucket of glitter at..."; I have an idea I need feedback on; in this essay, I shall... *followed by a 1.000-word essay below* and "Well actually, medieval people did not *insert whatever topic I go on a historical meandering*. In addition to these CV worthy hits, I'm (mostly) a "quiet" {this is debatable/open to interpretation} benevolent "apparition" who encourages members in their creative endeavours and strives to help to make this corner of the Internet a happy and safe space for everyone. If I by some miracle end up being elected as an admin I promise to do my utmost best to 1) not to break the Plaza 2) sneakily spread glitter around for all those great posts people keep writing 3) basically following in the footsteps of the current administration because they're doing an awesome job.

@Pele Alarion
Timezone: GMT+3
Blurb: I am not even sure whether there is something you don't know about me yet that would make you think better or worse of me in terms of this thread. :wink: I've been here a while and intend to stick around, so if there's anything I can do to help and keep the site afloat, I'm willing to do my best for it. Also... I do not eat honey cake every day, though I mention the tasty treat so often.

@Prometherion
Timezone: MST
Blurb: It’s 3 in the morning, I was told this is a great time to write a blurb. I’m Frost, hi. It’s kind of hard not to know me at this point. I have benefited so much from the Plaza this last year. I have grown new friendships that have helped me through difficult times (I’d like to think the feelings are reciprocated) and I’ve grown as a writer and as a person. Being an admin and serving the needs of the Plaza would be my way of giving back to the community that has so lovingly embraced me. I’ve learned so much from all the NuPlaza admins and I want that style of admining to continue. In short, as a thank you for all you’ve done for me, I will do my damnedest not to break the Plaza. Also, if elected I will stop changing my name so often and confusing everyone. Also, I’d really love to give ninja tribs to the many, many, many excellent posts I’ve read.

@Tarawen
Timezone: CST
Blurb: You know me - I code and I write things. :grin: And while I embrace a certain amount of silly chaos in some stories I write, I take the job of adminning seriously. I’m a firm believer in empowering members to lead, and I am especially committed to ensuring that this little corner of the internet is a welcoming and safe place for everyone. I think the current team has done both of those things well, and I’m proud to have been a part of those efforts. It’s been a wonderful year of helping out on the Plaza and no matter the outcome of this election, I’m excited to continue sharing stories on this site with you all.

@Tharmáras
Timezone: EST. Annúnfalas and Ercassie can assure you all that I am a nighthawk and online - on the Plaza, Facebook Messenger, and Discord - often throughout each day to help anyone and check on things.
Blurb: A passionately committed leader. Once a Kingdom Ruler, Eriador Mayor, and an Administrator. I know how to plan effectively with our beloved site's staff to benefit our ranking members. I would also encourage their creativity and friendship. I would ensure kindness and understanding, fairness and decency, in every corner of the Plaza especially its beloved roleplaying corners where I hope the preservation of a Tolkienesque atmosphere can long endure.

@Winddancer
Timezone: GMT
Blurb: You know me! If you don't, count yourself lucky :P I still wholeheartedly believe in making sure that the "power" lies with the members and I think the current team have been doing that quite successfully. I absolutely love that the admins "just" sort out background stuff like namechanges and tribbing and the rest is something we as a forum get to discuss. Obviously there have been a few instances where admins have had to deal with some "issues", but I would hope that people think we have been fair about it and if not we ARE approachable and it can be discussed, even if we do not agree (as we do have to take the whole forum into account), and envision that the new team would be so as well.

It is vital to me that the ones chosen are equally passionate about keeping decisions in the members hands and that they ensure that the Plaza remains a place for the many and not the few. Also, thank you SO much for allowing me to be of assistance this past year, I have loved every minute of it <3

Now excuse me I have to go "encourage" more people to join Mordor..

Long Blurb:

Thank you for nominating me again, those of you who know me well from our prior Plaza site and anyone who has interacted with me since its rebirth. I have many years of Plaza leadership, both in administrative roles and GM'ing RPs, and awarded the SCRs for Maglor and Frodo (on Old Plaxa) and Ossë (New Plaza). I'm capable of staying focused on my tasks as both a threadrunner and committed moderator. I listen to the concerns of the community and have always done what I've could on their behalf so they could have a pleasurable stay.

My longevity of service has extended to real life. I have worked as a manager at a local Regal theatre where I was employed for fifteen years but have done essential work in the Walmart backroom since 2020.

It would be an honor to help guide Narv's New Plaza as an admin during this next phase of its fledging development. I want to give back on a higher plane of duty for all I've been given here. It's been enjoyable for me to make new writing partners since we've refounded the Plaza. Many friendships I've established for nearly twenty years have enriched my life. It's been a long road but I'm still actively productive and still eager to make a diference. Thanks for all the fun and your consideration.

Hope the above blurb was not overly long :embarrassed: Before I finish I has a

Plaza hot take: @Tarawen should be declared a permanent admin because she knows how to code and do technical stuff. She even gleefully admitted it, look!

Thanks nominees for the record-time blurb output, it was beautiful to watch

Let's start our 5 days of voting now, so we'll go from now until June 13th, 11:59 PST (not really 11:59, but more like I will tally the results the next day so try to get them in by then please). Thanks everyone for all the participation so far!
