I'm a fan of this idea. Sorry this might be a dumb question (and here I am asking anyway), but are you imagining the humans as Free Peoples, humans under the sway of Sauron in rebellion, or a mix?

did someone say Fleeg fan? Durzhat might be recruiting for the fan club.

Initially I had imagined it was all going to be Freeps working undercover (a special division of rangers or some such thing) but now that you bring that up, it could be a mixture of both, with some under Sauron's sway looking to rebel or turning into assets.

Windy is the secret VP of the Fleeg Fan Club, keeping track of him at all times (if only to avoid him at all costs)

Can I just pop in here and be an annoying historian for a moment or two, thanks  During the Middle Ages and the early modern period (16th and 17th century) many merchants acted as spies. Dubrovnik is a famous example of that, the merchants acting as diplomats, spies and well merchants. In the Mediterranean city-states, the ruling council would give orders to spies, so they were not necessarily part of a military structure, although the military could hire their own spies. So anyone who would RP a Gondorian character wouldn't have to have a military background, be a part of the military, nor receive their orders from the military, but rather from the Council of Lords of Gondor, or the Steward... There, that's me throwing some history facts at you  and this has now officially pushed Agents of Empire on the top of the reading list

Oh that would make it like resistance + spies. I might be keen to play a character from Harad but if you want something else, I am totally open to whatever and think it is a very cool idea whatever direction it goes!

A number of years ago we started (but didn't get to complete) and RPG based in Minas Morgul on the theme of a potential revolution and loyalists vs rebels and all this talk is only making me more excited for Frost's upcoming RPG :googly: (psst did you notice how I said it was gonna be an RPG? Speak things to manifest them, right??)

@Nessa Saelind I sort of knew this, way in the back of my head but it's taken a second to get it running again  the suggestion that the character(s) be rangers or something militarily akin isn't the only option, it was merely the most obvious to me at the time I was writing (3 in the morning if anyone is counting). Of course it's perfectly fine for anyone to play a character of any background. And as for who is giving the orders, well that's entirely up to me and I am not about to divulge that here and now so :rasp:

@Lailyn to be fair, most of my thinking thus far about character dynamic has been "no orcs or elves" but beyond that I think any ethnicity or culture should be off limits, so say I, the GM of this potential RPG

@Moriel Speaking things to manifest, or speaking of the devil and he shall appear? (although with me it's kind of both isn't it?)

If you need humans on both sides of the conflict, I can bring in both Naelia and Talina, though if the two of them ever meet, Naelia will probably try to convert Talina! I can also bring in Orngor if you need some more Orcs (since he often divides his time between the Dark Tower of Barad-dur and Minas Morgul, so he's a little more familiar with the area than Naelia is).

@Lady Winchester Bring them both! There's some great character building opportunities for both of them so I encourage you to bring them if you can! I would hold off for now with Orngor for now, I'm still trying to figure how much I want orcs to play a part in the RPG, but stay tuned, I am known to change my mind every once in a while :googly:

Give me a week or so to work some stuff out and devise some locations within Minas Morgul (@Moriel something tells me you might have some stuff in that area?) and we can jump on that RPG as well.

Running tow RPGs at the same time, that's not crazy, right? Right? Someone? Right?

@Goosil hmm...yes if I want to make a minion Moriquendi (dark elf/drow/vampire). Maybe I'll need to say how he got there.

It was an honored to be murdered by such a wicked creature as Durzhat. Hopefully this will help lead you down the slippery slope that is minionhood. I think I speak for everyone (except probably Bubusha) that the Plaza needs more "Durzhat Doin' Evil Shire"

And trust me, I will remember that you offered a victim. Oh, yes, we shall remember...

Utter rudeness is a hallmark of minionhood, that and adding an inconceivable amount of layered beaurocracy into anything and everything.

Honestly that last part has been my major focus the last couple of months. Who knew pretending there was red tape everywhere and making it a nightmare for other people could be so much fun? There's a reason I should never be involved in politics

Can I start a thread on Harad, like the threads we already have? (City of Umbar- The Haven, Angmar-The Northern Lands, and etc.) I can be thread runner.

It'll be solely based on the area of Harad comprising of Near Harad and Far Harad, and maybe more areas.

I think it can be a good idea because Harad was a crucial ally of Mordor. RPing life there can be awesome. (And their flag is too cool!)

Love the new Harad thread @The Black Serpent and especially the map you chose for it! If I may, a few questions out of curiosity:

1) Did you come up with all the names of the locations or were they mentioned in some other places? So I can go do some research
2) Is there an official timeline or can we RP in any age as long as we clearly mark the year and age at the top of our post? and
3) Is hasharin a play on hashshāshīn?

Sorry for all the questions!

Hey @Nessa Saelind!

Thanks :)

1. Those are from this thread here. I think its from a lotr game. So not official or canon.
https://www.google.com/url?sa=t&source= ... txG0lIsVPw

2. Hmm...official time is Third Age since thats when the War of the ring was fought. But if you want to RP in an older time go ahead!

@The Black Serpent thanks for the responses re the location names. I'll definitely research more about it, see if what inspired the names for the locations  I'm not sure yet, I have two possible stories for Harad, one merchant related set in the Third Age, and another one set in the early years of the Second Age, but I need to find time to write them now that we have a designated thread for it

Thankyou for adding to your rules in the Black Pits Thread, @Winddancer. I’ll admit that the ‘you know the rules, don’t break them’ did leave a lot of room for questions.

Ie can anyone RP as a minion torturing a prisoner (of their own creation, or tormenting an obliging friend) ? Or do you have to have some sort of permission for that ? I mean, if I RP as a nasty piece of work tearing into a hapless unfortunate, am I subject to my nasty piece of work being dragged off or tortured for having no license or something ? :headshake:

Just a little query from someone who clearly ‘doesn’t know the rules’. We aren’t all minions, after all. Some of us simply have a dark passenger to accommodate by embracing the dark side on rare occasions. Thanks

Yea sorry about that, that part was written when this place was just made and under the assumption that all joining this thread already knew about said rules (basically none and just the Plaza rules)

Anyone can RP a minion working on their prisoner. Yes it has to be a minion of Sauron, it's Sauron's Pits afterall :P No one is allowed to interupt your rp unless they have asked you for permission and I certainly wont be ;)

Lemme clarify the rules a lil better <3

Thankyou for that clarification @Winddancer. No doubt it takes a Gondorian to worry about breaking rules in Mordor ! The character I have in mind is certainly a servant of Sauron. Well, his dad is a zealous, sacrificing, blood priest who bemoans that he wasn’t alive in the time of Zigur’s prominence on Numenor. Ahem. But junior is showing some definite initiative and may have to hone his skills so that he can live up to the family business. :mwahaha:

@Pele Alarion, I’m not sure if what we were thinking of would work better in the pits or the Umbar RP thread, but still I think Keket shall be hoping to enjoy the Black Pits as a means of consolation after your Ranger escapes. Have you poked @Isolde Alarion re the Relic/Pele vengeance flashback tale thing we were looking to work on ? This little Nasty piece of work is still willing. :stab:

Then I shall torment you wheresoever you are agreeable @Pele Alarion. Which means Pits, Umbar Free Rp and also something private of my own in Mordor Free Rp are now on the 'to do' list. I promise I am actually writing stuff in Word and not just entirely procrastinating with OOC today. :googly: All shall be revealed when it's err readier than currently stands. Its all falling into place. Details. Gondorian. *goes back to it*

@Moriel I meant to comment how I loved your newest thread guidelines re canon characters in Minas Morgul, however, this part here
As long as there aren’t two copies of the same canon character in the same location in the same time in the present (eg, two Gorbags in the pub simultaneously), I don’t care about duplicates
Makes me want to do two Gorbags walk into the pub simultaneously post! Are they twins? Clones? Magic juju? Gorbags from the Twilight Zone or Midde-earth-666 versions? So much potential for Halloween shenanigans

Sounds about right yes! Did you have the same name back then?

Always had a lot of fun with the role playing. Haven't gotten back into it here but seems there's plenty going on, so who knows, might still!
