welcome back @Devin! The Shire was also my second home though I'm not sure our paths ever crossed. You are not alone - I was also embarrassingly young when I joined the Old Plaza. seems many of us were.

I have a question for all ye hobbit lads and lasses, is there anyone available that might be willing to help a young, clueless hobbit lad (who may or may not be named Jorgy Underash) purchase a goat? I am assuming the formentioned transaction would take place in the Market thread but I have not located a specific "store" that would aid in the purchase of a goat and therefore would be making up something wholesale for this exact purpose.

@Tarawen does Zweet have permission to land on Tarawen's lovely head? (she won't be there long if so and I promise she will not soil that lush hair!)

Sil, I can't throw glitter at you (well maybe I could somehow, I'd have to think about that *strikes the thinker pose*) however! I can put this here for posterity because the multitasking Hobbit and I'm curious to know about these love poems Silas has been writing! Fess up Goosey

Rilla had other ideas. The words settling down were not in her vocabulary.
This description is so amazingly adorable <3 and very hobbity! Long mouthful of a surname  And Rilla is a star! :smooch: I laughed at the part where you mentioned that the phrase settling down is not in her vocabulary

@Goostradamus - can you clarify officially - in the Shire Detective Agency, is each hobbit guilty of one crime so that if one made a chart they would be able to more easily narrow down the suspects...?

Hahahaha yes this is correct @Lailfileg but I am uncertain whether I should be formally approving your very intrepid sheet. Superb detectoring though. Every crime is committed by a different hobbit, correct. Points are awarded for any correct combination.

If any of you had joined the Brewery's tour at any point, I am so sorry for having been gone for so awfully long. Part of me knows you would all understand, and part of me thinks that was unforgiveable.
My daughter's sleeping schedule went from every two hours to every four hours a few months ago, while my school and teaching schedules also blew up in my face.
Arghh!

I was thinking I should probably close the thread here in a few weeks, but I am debating on whether or not people want to keep it alive. And if so, I would love to hear everyone's suggestions for that to work.

Don't worry, @Istya Alassea! *hugs* I really enjoyed the lighthearted and relaxed pace of the Brewery tour. Personally, I'm all for keeping it open and alive even though it has quieted down a lot, but don't let that make you feel pressured into keeping it open if you don't want to! I know that TRing is a commitment that takes time. I can also see it working well as a special occasion type of thread for holidays/tours and the like. :smooch:

I know I'm a bit late to the conversation and I haven't actually shown up to the brewery yet (it's on the list, I promise) but I think you should keep it open. Life has had an annoying tendency to demand our attention for long periods of time, but I think the Plaza has adapted to that reality quite well and the pace is nice and slow and relaxed. Like Lail, I think it would be advantageous to possibly adapting the thread here and there for special occasions and holidays as they arise without the need to feel like they need to be completed within a given time frame.

I appreciate it, Prometherion! I actually read your last post in here on the day you wrote it, since I was pushing through Moderna's flu-like side effects from the second dose that day. (I needed something to do with my hands while I rested on the couch all day.) So I decided to keep the thread open a little bit longer. I was pleasantly surprised today to find that you joined us over at the Brewery. Yay! I have two more weeks of my current college class, and then I get a couple weeks' break before I start with my next one. So I will actually be around now.

I'm so glad you liked it @Istya Alassea! Jorgy is definitely a favorite of mine to write, he's the kind of happy, weird, and delightfully optimistic character that we all need every now and then. It just so happens that I'll be going on a week long hiking trip in the coming days so it looks like we'll be able to coincide and get Jorgy doing his Jorgy thing over at the brewery!

All that word salad is to say I'm glad you liked it and I can't wait to write more!

@Prometherion - all the love to you @Tarawen and @Menolly all the work that was put in the creation of The Farthings and Beyond Free RP :heartrainbow: I can't wait to get in there and RP curious child Pippin having all the adventures and getting into trouble because he just had to look/figure out that thing!

If it's alright could I make a suggestion regarding font/colour/formating of the locations? Would it be too much trouble to somehow highlight/emphasise places/villages/woods? Like this:

Southfarthing
Longbottom - home of the Hornblower clan, also origin of Longbottom Leaf
Pincup - a small village in the northern corner of the Southfarthing
Green Hill Country - a patch of country in the Shire, marked out by the Green Hills

or maybe this?

Southfarthing
Longbottom - home of the Hornblower clan, also origin of Longbottom Leaf
Pincup - a small village in the northern corner of the Southfarthing
Green Hill Country - a patch of country in the Shire, marked out by the Green Hills

I don't want to create more work for you, I just noticed when I was reading the OP that the locations in a farthing blurred together. Granted this could also be because I didn't have coffee :shrug: :lol: {I used Midnight Blue colour, the code #151B54}

:heartrainbow: I am really looking forward to seeing your rendition of a young Pippen @Nessa Saelind! I wanted to make the thread for just such purposes!

Regarding the colors and such, it's definitely something to look into. I, however, am quite colorblind (I use colors but to be honest I'm only about 60% sure of what those colors actually are) and ironically the example you gave looks the same as all the other text around it :googly: If anything, I will leave the colors in the hands of @Tarawen to figure out the color schemes

@Prometherion - I used a really dark colour colour similar to black as an example, because I wanted to avoid red or a totally different colour so as not to have a colourful fruit salad of an OP :googly: Generally midnight blue is very close to black and it's hard to spot the difference unless in direct sunlight, so no worries, this is an it's not you it's the colour  Maybe the solution can be that the Farthings are bolded and underlined, and the places/towns/villages/woods etc. are bolded? They are highlighted in some way, but no additional colours are used. Keeping it simple for everyone involved.

I was going to suggest a bold/underline combination, too! I think that might be the easiest way to distinguish them for all. :grinrainbow:

Edit: It is done!

Since I'm planning to write the childhood adventures of Pippin I went on a hunt to figure out how old his sisters were, and was surprised to discover an almost hobbit version of Steven King's Dolores Claiborne! How did I not know, or better to say how did I forget, about Lalia Took, née Clayhanger and her "accidental" fall down the garden steps! Why Pearl Took, you sly girl! I need more info about this event and partners in crime so we can RP this adventure!

In spirit (and letter) of this announcement, I've just added a rule to the Farthings and Beyond Free RP thread:

"We are all adults here and can decide for ourselves the stories we want to read so rather than dictate what can and cannot be written in this thread, we will ask that any CW (at the discretion of the writer) be placed at the top of the post."

Following up on this: I have not yet heard back from Fairy, so here's what I'm proposing...

- We'll leave the original Green Dragon thread open in case Fairy comes back and would like to resume her thread (or if others want to continue playing there!)
- I've asked @Moriel if she would like to run a new thread since she did so on OP and I realized that I am too lazy a TR to keep up with running a pub :googly:

Last week, I was watching the Late Show with Stephen Colbert episode where Peter Jackson, Billy Boyd and Dominic Monaghan joined him for a Lord of the Rings trivia game. One of the questions was about who was it in hobbit history that invented golf?

So a) what would your answer be? and b) would anyone be up for a golf game (more like putt-putt to make things interesting) thread?

Also, as of today, my current college course finally stepped back from being insane to being manageable. I can be around a lot more now!

That'd be great, @Nessa Saelind , to get the first thread locked. Thank you!
And it was Peter Jackson who asked Mr. Colbert about the hobbit who invented golf. So, yes!

After some delay, the new Green Dragon is live!!

@Pip Took I saw that you've just posted in the old thread- as discussed above the thread won't be closed, since we haven't heard back from @Fairy Nuff to get her permission and you are of course welcome to keep playing there! But do also feel free to come join us in the new thread!

edit: suggestions are welcome from all if you'd like to see anything added to the menu or the pub in general
