It warms the deepest reaches of my heart to see this place reborn. For those who may not remember, I ruled as Quickbeam for a few years like fifteen years ago. On the spur of the moment just now, I googled the Plaza to see if anything had been recreated or even if anyone remembered. Lo and behold. I am shook, as the kids say these days.

Welcome back! I had the same experience -- Googling to try and see if anyone was talking about it and finding that the Plaza had been recreated instead! Crazy that we're coming up on a year of it being back up, soon.

So I've been debating an idea for a Forest Free RP thread here which would be timeless and include Fangorn as well as the forests of Beleriand (potentially others, though I don't want to duplicate other areas that are already represented elsewhere). Selfishly the idea came because I have an idea for a post that doesn't really seem to fit anywhere else and also, I love forests... it could be a place to explore Ents in many times/spaces but also open to all other characters, too.

does anyone have thoughts and/or would anyone be willing to give feedback/brainstorm on an OP with me? Particularly if you are more confident with First Age stuff than me. I want to make sure there is maybe some interest before I go sit down to craft an OP.

This is an excellent idea - especially love the idea that it'd be timeless and include forests of Beleriand!! I'm no forest expert and certainly not what you might call a Real TR, but I'd happily help out as well if I can.

I'm not a First Age expert but I volunteer for the researcher of any kind/time you need! And if my enthusiasm wasn't clear I am all for this and am shoving humus on this because we're in the forest y'all, glitter is not appropriate

Ok in that case I will work on an OP for Fangorn + First Age Forests and I'll poke you three for feedback. I'd love some quotes from the books and might want assistance with that especially the various sub-forests of Doriath but at the same time I don't want to over-do the text and have a massively long OP.

@Lailyn you can always do a placeholder post So write an OP, write general location and purpose of the thread, wack a photo/map for illustration - everyone loves a picture in a thread and write the rules. State that in the next post you will give a detailed description of potential RP locations and Bob's yer uncle You can always edit the placeholder post as much or as little as you like because it's not a post with rules so nobody needs to worry if you just updated a location, fixed typo or did you change a rule and didn't have the chance to make the announcement

@Moriel, is it ok if I steal your canon character rule from the Numenor thread with all due credit? Since so many of you replied, I'll pop the OP (and second post) up later and would love feedback from all of you (and others) especially as far as what locations to include and whether I made any factual errors.

I love that so many of the new Free RP threads are embracing non canon locations. It makes them feel like they really belong on the Plaza and that we're making something incredibly unique
