@Elarith & @Allafyrefleorhtlig

I have found an Æthelmund thread where Rustbucket Dooley and @Eléowyn cause a recently rebuilt pub to go up in flames.

I think @Isolde Alarion perished in the blaze‽

I remember well hitting ENTER to get the fire started and the thread going ballistic for an hour or two.

I missed the early plaza days, but guess that's how threads used to go back then. No prob waiting for five posts before your next... They were zinging in!

Hush up, Aodh, I declare total innocence!

The Plaza was about a year in when I joined, and threads would move along so fast that by the time I could get a post written (a short one, at that), five other things would have happened, making my post look ridiculous. :smiley9:

@Aodh Hammerhelm you absolute legend. I can’t wait to read it 😂😂😂

I’m going to be working my way through the Wayback machines finding any threads at all that link, but would it be handy to create a wish list if people are looking for specific things so I can tag people as and when I find things? (Especially for those people still working; I have much more time on my hands).

Threads I would love to find are the Throne Room attacks (at least one involves Gecko and Niht and I’d love to find that), the festival horse pub and concurrent Throne Room when the horses all invaded backwards. Also any sign of my NPC Wulfgur or Wilfred or something who sang a song called ‘My Marshal Fair’.

@Allafyrefleorhtlig,

I have some hols coming up, and a shift pattern returning to something near normal after months in the trenches.

I'll begin work on a proxy Rohan Archive server piggybacking on www.ajpsauk.com.

My web skills have waned over the years, bear with me...

Well whaddaya know! You don't have to use the pesky little link button for a hyperlink. Typing the address and submitting the post does it automatically

Hello, Rohirrim, I've rejigged the SCRs I have for your fine area (you have the most currently) to the best of my ability. The horse with a ? was passed on as another Hasufel, but eh, he's very dark and different. Some are still missing, from my searches in the Ranks and Privileges pages. If any leap out at you as wrong, feel free to holler at me.

Not sure whether, or where, these would fit into your archive?

Postage Seals from Old Riddermark Post Office Threads. Also found one used by Shire Post office.

I am super excited at all the interest here! I'll keep adding things to the posts up above as I have time! Thank you for the contributions so far.

Still on my to-do list - have to finish adding those other SCRs!

@Aodh Hammerhelm I am very excited about this website, no matter long it takes you! What an effort. And I'm not sure about the post office seals, they just show up as the Text "Image" to me. Anyone else see the same or is it just me?

@Lailyn I can see the stamps as well.

@Aodh Hammerhelm Oh my gosh, just peeked into the Se Fyr Gaetherian pub thread and saw a lot of names with “the Fool” attached. I had forgotten that many of us changed our names temporarily in honor of @Wamba_the_Fool when he stepped down as ruler. What a fun memory!

Thanks all! This helped me narrow down what the Image issue was for me. Did some experimenting and it appears my Ad Blocker Extension in Firefox is blocking some of the images. If I turn it off or view in Chrome, the images load jut fine.
Wow @Elarith I am super excited you managed to find some of these threads!! Northern Wind was the last Cav RPG I participated in, kind of fun to look back on it.

No probs, @Eléowyn, I’m not offended! I remember the ‘Fool’ name changes we’ll - some of us had to be creative with the character limit!

@Lailyn Yeah, Northern Wind was great. I’ll try to hunt down the first 4 threads - quite surprised and pleased we’ve managed to salvage the second half of it.

Pleased you got the image thing sorted. Technology!

@Elarith - I've got the First thread already in this post: viewtopic.php?p=10511#p10511 (hopes this works) so don't worry about that one.

I've added all your found threads to that post as well!

If anyone has thoughts on how to better organize these historic thread posts, please let me know I'm all ears. I like organizing but I'm not always the best at coming up with a good system. I tried at first to go by year, then "theme" (RP, Cav, etc.), then initially put the threads alphabetically but then I started recording the month and sorting by time, so... suggestions welcome for this mess.

@Lailyn Ah, cool! I think I got confused and thought you already had number 4 for some reason but not 1.

As for organising... How are people tending to try to find things? My train of thought is usually something like "Oh I wonder if that Cav RPG / pub / game in which x happened is around" and try to go from there. But maybe this is just how my brain works. So I would possibly lean towards 1. Main sort by theme then 2. Sort by year? Then alphabetise in year? Maybe? Or would this make it harder for people to find stuff? I don't really do databases or cataloging...

Have any of the other kingdoms got good systems going that we can nab? :P

It looks like the Shire have organized theirs by thread type. So, all the Riddle threads are listed together (with dates beside them), then all the Throne Rooms are together, all the Dragon Rooms, etc. I think I do quite like that better than organizing by date now that I look at it.

I guess it depends if people are more likely to browse threads by date or are more interested in specifically going back to all the Dragon Rooms or all the Aeldsel Inns of the past? Maybe the latter would be more likely.

@Lailorn Threads by category seems like a fine idea. Dates, for me at least, are a less sure way. I can remember the month and year I joined (Sept 2005) but not much after

@Lailorn I agree with @Aodh Hammerhelm that sorting threads by type first makes it easier to find what you are looking for/interested in. If there is more than one type of thread (e.g. 3 dragon rooms) then they can be second-sorted by date.

Concur, emphasizing the secondary-sorting by date as important, please.

Thanks all for your thoughts. I've just finished re-organizing the first post of threads organized by category, then date. I have to say I am much happier with this, too!
<Edit: and I finally got your other SCRs added, @Allafyrefleorhtlig - thank you! :smooch: >

In a frustrating attempt to uncover more of my past Cavalry history (which was quite futile in many ways), I did uncover a surprising amount of archived threads. It's just most of them were not what I was looking for. :hammer:

I perused the current links and I don't think there's any duplicates here.

Thank you to everyone who has been searching the Wayback Machine for threads that open, especially @Taethowen and @Elarith, and to @Lailorn for compiling them. For the first time today I was able to view both a post I made during my tenure as King, and a Dragon Room from back when I was First Marshal. It has made my day; thank you!

I do have a few more I’ve found but I need to cross-check that Taeth hasn’t already captured them first.

 Taeth! Thank you! I added all your threads (some were duplicates I had already but that's all good) and some of the links gave me 404's but Wayback sometimes irks out I think so I added them and put ??? by them to indicate they didn't work for me at the time of adding.

I also added a few more old threads that are quite funny because people's signatures are longer than their posts. I just got through all of 2002's first pages (there aren't many) that I could find and added them. Next up, 2003! Seems best to go in some kind of order. If anyone wants to start with newest threads and work back to meet me in the middle, please have at it!

This is very possibly my fault, because I've noticed myself doing it before, LOL. On a few of these, when they made it onto the actual list in the first couple posts, they ended up being linked to the defunct web pages instead of the archive page. Here's the ones that need to be fixed:

Legends of the Mark - Nominations - November 2004 - http://web.archive.org/web/200509201809 ... Position=1

Dragon Room LXIII - Feb 2005 - http://web.archive.org/web/200509100235 ... Position=1

@Taethowen,

Great work! I'm struggling to upload several threads saved back in the mists of time (Plaza circa 2007-2008). The're in MHTML format and go all wonky when converting to standard HTML... If I upload the MHTML files to my server and type the file location I get a blank screen... Frust :rage: rating!

How do you generate the funky picture grid via Plaza? I've got a whole stack of SCR and ATR icons on my PC (2005-2014) and don't much feel like posting them one by one ;)

It's a picture, basically.

I organise them using a table in Word, save the screen as a picture (press prtsc, open Paint, paste, crop and save) and upload the picture. It's time consuming to do so when people come along every now and then with a new icon, because I have to go through all the steps, when I would like to just add one in.

I would like to post them one by one in a pretty grid, but Narv hasn't made it available nice and easy in our current post box!

Are you telling me you have some that we haven't got?!?!?!?!?!?!?! :fence:

A grid would be handy, wouldn't it‽

Yes, I have a few that I don't see on your grid.

I'll finish scouting my saved threads before sending you what I have.

As suggested by @Dimcairien Luiniel, I’m stealing her list of ranks from Western Mountains and posting it here in case we also want to add it to our archive.

@Shivased Do you remember how impossible it was to write these things?! 20 Rohirric ranks that never repeated themselves, urgh!

ALLACAN EDIT Hmmm, that didn’t work and I’ve no idea why. @Dimcairien Luiniel? Help?

@Allafyrefleorhtlig I don't think you grabbed it correctly.

Here's the link to the imgbb album that has all the Wolf Icons (they went up to at least 17) and the list of ranks. I also have found animated images of the highest ranks. I have no idea why Rank 20 is so massive in there, but it shows up normal when embedded.

As an FYI, in your rank listing in the OP, 3 and 4 are out of order. I see that rank 14 is missing, so I will keep an eye out for that when I begin to brave the Wayback for the missing region rank icons.

Make sure you select "BBCode Full" or "BBCode medium linked" as the option for the url to copy and put it between

@Allafyrefleorhtlig Don't remind me! That was probably one of my hardest tasks as a ruler! We were both so frustrated doing those!

@Shivased I think on reflection we might both agree that the hardest part of ruling during region switchover was working so hard on impossible tasks like that, only for it to go live and some people be disappointed, angry and upset. Oh how I survived off the lovely people who complimented our wolf icons and rank names or were appreciative of our efforts trying to achieve the impossible. It practically sustained me during the last part of my rulership. (I’m also still a bit of a softie for those wolf icons, and the ‘Tenderfoot of Eastenmearc’ rank! If I ever get an SCR on NuPlaza I might be unconventional and request a wolfie icon).

Also, I saw someone posted a link to this absolutely awesome thread which has helped me pin down when I was ruler. Apparently I was a ruler from February 2009 onwards. Iirc I think I either just about managed a year of being ruler, or stepped down before my year anniversary, so I probably ruled until around January 2010, maybe a little longer.

I do think I vaguely recall seeing you running around as Éomer, but pretty much the only reason I would venture into Western Mountains would be for Caption Contest or IR things, so I doubt we interacted.

I hadn't ever thought about how much work it would have been to come up with all of the new rank names - so props to you guys!

And I don't think there would be anything wrong with requesting a wolfie icon! There's a reason we're trying to compile all of the old icons.
