I don't know if this has been asked for before, or if it is possible, or a feature I just can't figure out how to do....but is it possible to get the ability to put small images in signatures? The Cavalry has badges that we use, that denote our rank/position and go in our signature. It'd be awesome if we could get that back.

It isn't a huge thing, so if it isn't possible that's fine.

Sorry for the delay

@Galastel voluntary contact info visible only to registered users seems reasonable to me. I'd have to look into how to do it and with us being so close to having admins and stuff probably get their input (assuming this isn't an urgently needed thing?) but I think it'd be alright.

@Shivased the sigs are a personal thing for me I'll admit. I disabled images in em because I had bad, possibly fabricated memories of giant signatures with loads of animated smileys and such in them. Cavalry badges don't sound like they would necessarily offend my spartan sensibilities though.. what kind of dimensions are we talking, and how many would be required?

In the old plaza, sig pics were an issue, so were reduced to 8kb:

your wayback-machine-fu is astonishing, and I am certainly loath to supersede the authority of Lord Indur. Unfortunately we're more constrained technologically and can only do max height & width with no permutations for different shapes. So if we can find out what size the badges are then we can see if maybe that's a reasonable size to allow, bearing in mind that I'm sure the feature will surely end up being used for non-badge images too..

@Narv They are....ummm...I don't know? Under 8 kb, I know that. Something like 6.5. Here is one for reference: Image

Apologies if this was already requested: Being able to click a kingdom's banner graphic ("Meduseld", e.g.) to go back to that forum would be slick. If it's not possible it's not a big deal since you can just click "Rohan" on the textual one-line forum locator. (I really don't know what that element's called, but am nicknaming it "pwd" for any in the Linux crowd.) Thanks! :smiley22:

@Taethowen and other interested parties - there is now a "Kingdoms & Ranks" page linked to from the sidebar (and from the Quick Links dropdown) for all your icon-perusing needs.

@Wamba_the_Fool your suggestion for a graphical "cd .." command sounds very doable, we'll add it to the list

@sig lovers thanks for the samples and I promise this is on the agenda to figure out.

Hi there New Admin Team! I was wondering if it was possible to pin threads to the top of individual forums? If so, I would like to ask if the following two threads could be pinned to the top of the Shire forum:

https://lotrfanaticsplaza.com/forum/vie ... f=13&t=130
https://lotrfanaticsplaza.com/forum/vie ... f=13&t=310

But no worries if that's not possible.

Thanks!

By way of feature requests, would it be possible to have a little button next to people's usernames showing if they are online?

@Li., I too have secretly coveted this feature. But I wasn't sure how creepy it would be to ask for it... :?

By way of another feature request (since we have a new Admin team and can make these requests)...is it possible for the Timestamp on each post to actually be a link to that post? That would make it easier to direct people to certain posts without having to quote the post.

It appears that right now the user icon is the link to the post, so the links-to-posts exist, they're just in a differENT spot.

Btw it's only really Tara and Narv that can do the coding for anything new :P

@Li. dont know if you are aware, but if you go to Board Index and scroll to the bottom, you can see who is on. (isnt to discourage your request, just something to use until then!)

Re: pinning, one thing we gotta do is fix the topic icons so a pinned thread actually looks pinned.. that'll help with confusion somewhat

Timestamp as post link makes sense, we'll just need to make sure it doesn't get the default link style and look all weird, but that should be doable.

Online indicator on posts is more involved so we'll have to investigate it but.. maybe

@Galastel @Joel Cotton @Winddancer @everyone else

2 fields have been added to the profile (and the 'Edit Profile' tab has been brought back to support them) - one for adding external contact info if you choose, and one for pronouns. Let me know if either of these need tweaking.

Heck yeah, thanks @Narv! Just added them and seems to be working great.

Thanks for giving a specific space to do that, and thanks to everyone for helping normalize the use of pronouns :smiley17:

@Shivased @Lirimaer at long last sig pics should be possible. A couple notes: I set the max dimensions large enough to accommodate the two samples you provided; and I put a no-moving-images rule in to keep to the spirit of simple, unobtrusive images. I hope that achieves what you're after - lemme know :smiley24:

@Mojo timestamp is a post link now (so is the icon still, for people who already learned to do it that way first)

Thank you for adding the little pin icon next to pinned threads! Makes scanning each subforum's thread index at a glance that much easier. :smiley24:

The pronoun field on profiles is :smiley22: too.

On the quick links there used to be a link to see the page of the new posts. Now it is no longer there. Can I have it back since it is quicker to look at that list then manually checking each thread to see if there are updates?

Sorry about that - I've disabled forum search temporarily as I try to track down some very annoying performance issues with the site/server -- the New Posts display hooks into that system so it's an unfortunate casualty. I'm hoping to have this sorted out and search & related functions back ASAP (a few days to a week sort of thing).

Polls and/or poll results are not easy to read in Rohan. In many cases, like this, we end up with light gray text on a dark green background and some us have a hard time telling if text is even there. If there's anything in the color coding that can be done to fix this, it would be MUCH appreciated!

Passing it on to the code guru's Taeth :) You know you can hightlight it until it is fixed, right? Will help until it is more visable

@Taethowen - I suspect that this is due to the default forum styles and Narv's beautiful Plazariffic custom styles not getting along too well. We'll be looking into it.

Is there any way to pin the first post of a thread at the top of subsequent pages? It'd be super useful for referring back to rules and such.

I second @Li.'s comment (though I have no clue how hard this would be from a coding standpoint).

Also, the "Quick Navigation" menu in the bottom right (which per the Plaza Discord I'm the only one that uses) is really hard to read in Mordor. It's fine in all the other Kingdoms though.

@Li. - I agree that'd be nice to have; I believe this was requested at one point and am not sure it can be done. We can certainly take another look to see what's possible.

@Mojo - TIL that that looks terrible; thanks for flagging it. Pretty sure I know exactly which style is messing this up, so I'll have a look as I look into other style-related issues soon.

Somebody killed search functionality and about half the stuff that was once under the Quick links header, and I am upset.

Hey @Elenhir, the search function is temporarily disabled while we chase down some persistent bugs! From Narv's post earlier in this thread:

No, I need search functionality, so that I can maintain the image of omniscience and don't miss things said halfway up the page.

Look, I've cultured a very delicate system of determining what I've seen and what I've not seen, and then seeing the not seen. You're asking for a trivial yet completely new methodology here. This is the very road to chaos.
