Hello Plazarians. It's been like all day since the last update so clearly I better have something to show for myself. I do and it's called User Mentions. Or tagging. or something

You should be able to type @SomeUsername, and as you type a little box will appear with names. If you click that name that person will get a notification. Hopefully this will help with some of the headaches around not being able to contact users outside of threads.

EDIT: you can also make it work by typing this: I just noticed the little box when you type @ sometimes pops up in weird places on the screen, so the BBCode method might work better in those situations.

Here is the fine print:

1) This is a third-party extension which appears to be pretty well supported at the moment, but it could always break at any time.
2) I'm hoping it's more useful than annoying to have this - if I am incorrect in that (and if a lot of you agree on my incorrectness) please let me know and I will remove it.
3) If you would rather NOT get these notifications, you can turn them OFF by going to your User Control Panel, opening the "Board Preferences" tab and opening the "Edit notifications options" thing. See here: https://imgur.com/rw0UcC4. It's the very last checkbox: "Someone mentioned me".

Thanks to Mojo for the idea to look into this, and I hope it's helpful to all your incredible feats of kingdom self-organization, scholarly lore archiving and OOME spamming.

So individuals can turn on and off the notifications, which is great, but I don't think Narv or the rest of us actively maintaining the forum feel comfortable turning it off since there might be an issue that requires our attention where tagging is the easiest way of getting the attention. But if it's overused it'll eventually be tuned out by us. Think boy who cried wolf.

I guess what I'm saying is get all your spamming of @Narv notifications out of your system in this thread for the next few hours then try to be responsible with it.

They have been pretty consistent for me. But I also dont think I would notice if i didn’t get one. But I’m getting plenty of notifications. Maybe certain ones are lagging.

first I want to ask, DO I KNOW YOU? Why would you want to be a ruler who abuses such mighty power? You're a self proclaimed clog wearer. That tells enough of you to warrant NO ABUSE OF POWER. Also, Melkor would love you for your ingenuity and I thought we don't love in Mordor so thus you can't be there, candle. Second, a like button for @Uruva would be more like a piercing dagger button that would kill me every time she hit it. And then that would thay would just become abusive torture. I don't approve. @Veowyn Pretty cool!!! @Narv @Nienna @Arteris Yippee!!! What do people think about tagging people while writing an RP post (so that they will be notified they've been mentioned in a post)? Or, erm... is that what it's for? Great work, @Narv!

Personally @Finduilas Faelivrin I think that a classy tag at the end of an RP post is no big deal, if neither you or the other person care. I think that if some people want to make it off limits in their threads, that is up to them but in general I’d say its ok.

Or do it at the end of the post and use white font so it cant be seen! :D
