And some vampire ones as well, but I don’t think Buffy was a theme in and of itself.

I keep thinking The Simpsons would be fun. There's an endless amount of funny icons to be made.

Doing a re-run of the classic horror characters theme could be cool too.

Lovecraft monsters, as mentioned above, would be really cool too, but perhaps tricky to represent well in small icons.

Is it possible to lock a thread so that only kingdom members can see it?

If so, why not do kingdom only threads in each respective forum where the kingdom members can vote and decide diplomatically on their theme for the kingdom, either choosing from one of the old themes or deciding on a new one with icons submitted, with multiple votes per person? I figure that is the best way to make the most people happy and be the most inclusive for the people it will matter to, while maintaining some level of surprise because Rohir won't know what theme Gondor/Mordor/Shire are going for. (Maybe admins can make sure that two kingdoms aren't voting for the same thing?)

Sure, I know some people might cheat and switch kingdoms to nosy and stuff, but NuPlaza is the place where the members have the control

Given that people are already talking about switching kingdoms to make sure they get the icons of their top choice, we were thinking more of choosing themes that would be popular to the greatest number of people - or else more sparsely populated kingdoms would be picked by a handful of people, and where would the Lorieners and Wizards get their say?

My only vague concern re Lovecraftian monsters is of course that the icon makers will go insane. A risk I guess some of you are willing to take

@Allacan ob Burzum we have some plans for how we are doing the icons, which will make it less insane for us to do. So would be a no on the secret voting unfortunately. For now just pic the themes you would like, we will then make a poll soon with the suggestions and vote for what you want to see.

I would go into specifics but we would really like to surprise you all, so please THEMES! <3

Perhaps the 'scary' element of Plaza Halloween is the spine-tingling thrill of not knowing what icons shall show up ?

I have never even heard of at least half the themes which are being put forward, so I will no doubt end up with some random icon I do not have any clue what to do with anyway.

I was half-thinking of a move to Mordor for the duration of Halloween, explore a little darker side, etc. But knowing my luck the Minions will end up as Care Bears or something like that ! Honestly I think though following on from Winddancer's idea at the outset might be interesting. Explore a Middle Earth where the monsters really do rule. Explore a 'What would have happened if Sauron had won ?' sort of alternative Plaza, based on the 'Scouring of the Shire' sort of a thing for each kingdom. Now that is scary, but still Tolkien.

A couple other thoughts...

-I totally sympathize with hating or not having a clue about your Halloween icon. I'm pretty sure I got an SCR for NCIS. Flattering, but I still have never watched the show!

But since we can switch kingdoms and even ranks (as long as you have it unlocked) for free on NuPlaza it seems more likely that everyone can find something they like, or at least don't hate!
-Alternate Middle-earth is intriguing buuuuuuuuuuut I do kinda like the chance to RP and theme games around other fandoms.
-I also like the non-Tolkien dwarf/elf/horse/minion ideas.
-Whatever needs to be to make it less work for admins is

In the end I'm just excited for another Plaza Halloween!

I was thinking that the Dwarves (KD) could be, Studmuffins? Dwarves always get a bad rap for being short, hairy, unattractive and stinky. Mind you, as a Dwarf, I find most Dwarves very attractive.

It would be fun if the other free peoples thought so too for a change and spread some drool KD's way. *grin*

"Alexander Hamilton" - is this suggested theme supposed to be 'Hamilton' the musical (if not, then I put that in as a suggestion) or are we saying we want lots of icons of depictions of the Founding Father?

Also, a few other suggestions after browsing the list:-

- Star Trek (yes, I'm a trekker, and I love Discovery, and I am not ashamed or sorry about it).
