I know for a fact that some of you wonderful plaza people are critters, but I suspect there are much more of you than even I realise; come show yourselves!
For those not (yet) initiated, ‘critters’ are fans of Critical Role is a twitch-steam show available on YouTube where a group of nerdy-ass voice actors play Dungeons and Dragons.
Their acting-skills and creativity add richness to the story-telling, their passion keeps you invested, and their camaraderie and foolish hunt for fun and silliness make it absolutely hilarious at times.
In a year or so, they will even be appearing on Amazon; after a record-breaking Kickstarter campaign they are doing an animated series!
Bidet critters! Do you spice? FLUFFERNUTTER
I’ve been a huge fan for about three years now. Got interested when I found out Ashley Johnson a member. Even after she had to become a part time member, I was hooked by the random absolute craziness the cast came up with. It felt like watching the Plaza being acted out in real(ish) time. Also... hello bees
Me!
Even more niche, but as a Pathfinder junkie I listen to The Glass Cannon Podcast, which is the official Pathfinder podcast. They don't stream everything like Critical Role, and they have nowhere near the audience, but they are still good.
I didn't know about the animated series for CR, that's exciting! I watched some of Dan Harmon's half-animated DnD stuff when it was briefly free on Amazon, I bet Critical Role's will be even better!

Yes! I started watching ... fairly near the beginning of Season 2, I believe? but have been using some of the endless time in lockdown to watch parts of Season 1.
I think I like Season 2 more because of Fjord. Grog was cool and all but a bad intelligence score limits your role play abilities.
A bad intelligence score *focuses* your RP options. :smiley8:
I know almost nothing about Critical Role; I just want to say this is a helluva thread title, and while I still don't know what most of it means, reflecting on the mystery of it has brightened my day.
:smiley8: Those phrases are pretty funny. My favorite comes from season 2 “Regular Gnoll, Regular Gnoll”
I love it!Wamba_the_Fool wrote: ↑Wed Jun 24, 2020 6:37 pm A bad intelligence score *focuses* your RP options. :smiley8:
I thoroughly enjoyed Grog in season one, especially the development, like when he does a reading lesson with Pike, and the Search for Grog was epic in every regard!!
In fact, I love the way all the characters develop over time - kudos to Sam for being brave and taking Scanlan ‘there’! The season 2 characters grew on me with time, but I am sooooo behind and still not caught up.
@Eldy Dunami rejected options were ‘Regular Gnoll, Regular Gnoll’, “Neeeein” and JENGA!!!
Among others of course.
This might be a bit controversial, but I've never been a huge fan of Sam's characters. He's amazing when they're in the middle of a fight, but his storylines were so stilted and mushed together it just didn't work for me.

I assume some of you have seen, but - THEY'RE BACK. Or at least will be, from July 2. :smiley8:

I've been so singularly focused on Plaza goings on that I completely spaced on checking Twitter. NOICE!!
@Almarëa Mordollwen Sooooo excited, but now annoyed with myself I haven’t caught up yet. I guess that’s what I’ll be doing this week!
@Bïfrøst nothing wrong or controversial about having an opinion. On occasion I struggled with Ashley’s characters be a use there’s less opportunity to bond, and Liam’s tendency towards melancholy can be tough when you aren’t feeling upbeat yourself. I appreciate their contributions though, there’s a good mix of attitudes and approaches and a lot of respect between the cast, and fans.
Also (whispers) Uk’otoa!

And they're back! :smiley8: Up to level 12, for good measure: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yvcrm4RIc_o
Feels good to have them back!
I don't really know enough or follow closely enough but I find the campaigns great escapism. For me, it kind of combines the ease of audiobook (and relaxation for the eyes most of the time), plus a good imaginative story. And some giggles.
Ahem, is it Thursday yet?
Spoilers - (That reveal of Viridian / Vilya was EPIC. Anyone else lose it when Matt finally said it? And it took Marisha several seconds to realize? Talk about the long game ...)
