I joined back when the movies were hot and I was stupid 14 year old kid, I remember when there were no kingdoms and everything was a strange mess. I came back in 2007 when the Plaza was really hopping, RPed with a bunch of strange but lovable people, started out as a man of Gondor, of principles and morals, then I got sucked into Mordor and my inner chaos goblin got unleashed in the form of Frost, an nebulously human man who... did things? I really don't remember much about it because that was a long freaking time ago and the world has shifted on it axis a few times since then. I literally found the site again because at 3 in the morning I thought "whatever happened to the Plaza" and decided to Google it. Viola! Memories are flooding back (which is probably good because I'll like develop memory issues) and I can't wait to do crazy, stupid, fun shenanigans with everyone again.

@Frost And the fun thing is that it was only resurrected a few days ago! So timing is everything!

@Eldrith It's almost spooky. I was reminiscing about the Open RP Thread each kingdom had and wishing I could go back in time and revel in it more. Apparently, the universe was already working on a more realistic idea.

Who, me?

I did some poetry on the old Plaza, but I haven't actually publicly posted any singing I've done yet...Though I've been telling myself all quarantine that I should, so maybe I'll get to it. :smiley24:

I'm an oldbie. I joined the Plaza in 2003, I think it was. I've always been Dis the Dwarf. I did a ruler stint and was an admin (Mahal)for a couple years. I developed a major case of burnout and left. Popping in every now and then to see how the place was doing. I happy to see it back in pretty close to it's original form. Thank you to all who resurrected it.

I was referring to your poetry indeed! I remembered it from 'back in the day'. Or at least I remember your name as one of the participants in the poetry threads!

I'm getting used to this, Eldy, old friend! I think it's a great way to catch a someone's attention! I'm touched you remember both my usernames, Eldor!

Veo was so happy when I told her you were, Issy! Bear lives in Gondor but I haven't posted his bio yet. It'll probably be the same one from Rivvy's site. I had a rough few months back in the winter, was in a toxic relationship / engagement but that's over now and I'm better. Got my own place and doing some essential work while I'm on furlough from the theatre. Might be getting even better money soon if a friend of mine can get me in the shipyard. Looking forward to writing with you in Gondor or Rohan, Issy, and spending time with Laila again!

I was digging through some old files and for some unknown reason I screencapped my very first post in the old newbies and introductions forum (also, I had legit forgotten my original username was Stybba). Gave me a chuckle.

It seems it was ... January of 2002 when I joined Plaza although for some reason I keep thinking it was 2001. But it must have been 2002.

There are so many familiar names here! It's a HUGE nostalgia bomb. Hopefully we can all hang out here again and go hunt a dragon. :smiley9:

Welcome back all you ancient ones and welcome, welcome to all you new folks. It’s so good to be back among like-minded friends. I know that we all know that not everyone is a devotee of all things Tolkienesque, but being back among a horde of those who are is like a breath of fresh air in a stale room. Even if this doesn’t last forever it’s going to be fun while it does last!

Wow! This is such a trip. I was on the old Plaza around 2008 ish (?), though I had been lurking for a bit. I was never too into the RP scene, but I loved the lore forums. You might remember me if you ever did Drill. I do see a few familiar names. It's so good to be back here, especially with the same old theme and layout!

Welcome back @Azanul Bizarre! I don't think we had a chance to hang much (I was super intimidated by the lore forums back in the day) but I'm glad you found your way back! I love the name too, btw

Thanks, @Frost! Yup, the lore forums could be intimidating, I was always so much in awe of the level at which some people knew and understood the legendarium. But it was a welcoming atmosphere, and everyone was quite patient with newbies. It probably helped that there were no downvote buttons!

I’ve been posting here and there since this reboot but haven’t really stated my particulars. I joined the Plaza in 2002. Became an Istar and never looked back. Met some terrific people, one who became the love of my life. That relationship lasted until 2015, so a good while. Was friends with Camino, Wedgie, Grey Pilgrim, Dumenelion, Moneta, Tigris, ShEru, Protoguy, Arwe Thereyet, Ultchuk, and so many more that I can’t remember everyone. Fell off the Plaza unfortunately I guess it was in 2007 maybe due to work constraints. By the time I tried to come back something had happened and activity had slowed down so much I couldn’t bear it and I guess I abandoned the Plaza, though I hate to admit it, because the Plaza had meant so much to me. I guess that’s all I have to say; I ain’t saying no more.

This is so funny to feel like a newbie again! I joined in I think Feb 2003 when I was 13 or 14. I joined Rohan right away (I think it was called Meduseld then?) under the name Lailindeiel. I changed it to Lailyn much later because it sounded less elvish and more Rohirric to me. I spent most of my time in Rohan with the Cavalry and some other things (and the Hotel California chatroom) until I left and came back again years later (like maybe 2010?) and moved to the Shire.

Its nice to see so many familiar names and people back here again!

Hello everyone! I recognise a bunch of names here, it's a real blast from the past. I first joined in about 2003 as en elf in Rivendell called Rhin Ariel. I seem to remember being a very flowery, overdramatic roleplayer, though, in fairness, I was only 14. I then moved over to Lothlorien and renamed myself Nostariel. I think I faded out of posting sometime around 2005/2006 when I went into sixth form college. I returned around...2007 I want to say and moved to Rohan as Aethelu. I have a lot of good memories there, I even went to a meetup and bought my first alcoholic beverage (for someone else because I was tee-total). Once university started getting harder I wandered away again. A few years ago I tried to look the place up again to find it wasn't here anymore, a sad moment.

I suddenly found myself searching to see what had happened to the old place and someone had posted a link to this new forum on Reddit. Hope you don't mind me crashing back in again. There's something comforting about being here again. It helped me to express myself as an awkward introverted teenager who didn't know where she belonged in the world.

@Aethelu Welcome back! I found the NarvPlaza the same way you did, I was struck with the random urge to see the Plaza, found out it was gone, but found a reddit thread that said Narv had brought it back. I followed the link and fell back down the rabbit hole. It's good to have you back.

Hello! I'm Larcwen, an old Rider from c. 2003-2005. I came to the Plaza via the awesome quiz, which used to give you your first points. I started as an elf (Rivendell, then Lothlorien). I wasn't really into RPGing or fanfic, and mostly hung out in the writing forum (which used to have a different name?). I posted my first couple fantasy novels on the boards, one of which was the very dire and derivative Blood Ring. I still fondly remember many people's fics and keeping up on LiveJournal and Xanga.

I now live in Tolkien land (ie Oxford) and am locked down with my husband and 5-month old son. I'm still writing novels and am a failed English lit academic (Victorian literature).
