Translation Requests

I don't see another translation thread up yet, and the folks over on Discord encouraged me to start one! I need a little help finding a good translation of "Library of Imladris" into Sindarin. It doesn't appear that there's a specific word for Library, so I was thinking that something like "House of Books" or "Place of Learning" might work just as well.

Well, the Turkish for library is kütüphane, which I believe is derived from Arabic "kitab" and Persian "khana" book + house, so I reckon you''re on the right lines.

Mar e-Parf??

@Dorwiniondil - Does "mar" translate to "house"? If so, can you explain why you recommend "mar", rather than "adab"?
As a minor point, my Sindarin source (Hisweloke) states that "perf" (books) is the plural of "parf". However, if that site is considered inaccurate, I will be happy to stand corrected.

I imagine mar and adab to be near synonymous. Anybody else have views on this?
Parf/ Perf: Both OK. I was thinking in a more abstract sense e.g. The House of The Book (suggested to me by the Turkish), but the more concrete House of Books would be equally valid IMO.

Oooh, I have a translation question of sorts! Thanks for the thread,
Quill!
As mentioned above, I usually use Hisweloke as my source of Sinadrin words. But for elvish (and other) names, I often find myself here:
https://realelvish.net/names/. Is there any consensus as to the accuracy of this site? Until just now I hadn't done much poking around the rest of it, but it does look pretty extensive.

@Dorwiniondil and @Laintaen - someone on a Sindarin Facebook group recommended "Parvas" as the word for library. Anyone heard of this? It does seem related to "parf."

@Aerlinn - I too have referenced that site many times in the past. I'm interested in what others have to say about its accuracy. If I recall from like, way back in 2002 or something, they even had language courses (looks like that has become their Academy at this point).

@Quill : I haven't come across this. As you say 'par(v)...' looks very probable, but I don't know where the '...(v)as' comes from. I wouldn't say it's wrong, but I'd need to know more.

When I set up my blog,
Parma-kenta, I was advised by one the best that it would be more appropriate to use the singular form as the abstract (my first instinct was
Parmar-kenta – as “enquiry into the books”).
