I hope I remembered the name of our old OOC thread Correctly. If not, too bad so sad. So it lives. Figured we might as well have one of these. Can use it to plot mischief-- err make plans for Rohan. Also if I remember right it was also our announcement thread, wasn't it? Anyway, here we go. An OOC thread for all our OOC needs.

So, it's been about 10+ years... I would love to get back into the swing of things, my dear Riders. Just a quick rundown here. I was originally playing a very early 4th age herbalist as were the original plaza, and definitely plan to revisit her as your local healer if that's cool. I did ton of Anglo-Saxon herbal research back then and can't promise that level of detail, but I have such good memories here as Rohwyn the healer so I want to continue her character. She was of the Westmark, and while she was Feldmarshal for some time, I don't mind skipping that bit as that was a long long time ago. I would be happy with her simply being the local herbalist as she has no ties that have lasted. (or there may be but I don't think they would affect this).

@Rohwyn So are you saying you want to be Cav healer? Because if so, by all means PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE help out. I can use all the hands I can get. (I'm Bealdorhaelend so I have final say on healers lmao) Visit the DR to get involved. Also *tackleglomp* Its the person so many people mistake me for!

Dropping in to say westu hal. I played for many years before, but wanted a fresh start under a new name, which will be Éolath once that gets sorted out. I was once a westmarker officer and haelend, we'll see where Éolath takes me this time.

Would anybody be interested in starting the ole raccoon racing up again? Mordor started up Lava Snake racing, but might be nice to have the raccoons back again? (It was raccoons, right? It's been a good ten years since I retired lol!)

Are badger burgers and dr pepper still around or are we fresh out of badgers and fizzy drinks? No big deal if that is the case, just wondering (and I may have a major craving for badger burgers after 2-3 years of cold turkey :smiley9: ).

@Rior Laegiel Badger Burgers and Dr. Pepper definitely need to still be a thing! It wouldn't be Rohan without a good juicy badger burger!

@Shivased *sighs in relief* Thank Eru! I was worried there for a moment but I'm glad that this old tradition have withstood the test of time.

We should definitely have a re-enactment of the badger attack on the pub. That should provide plenty of badger meat for the burgers—assuming the humans win the battle. I’d love to see a little silliness of the early Plaza days. I don’t recall how it happened, but I somehow once ended up mud wrestling.

I do hope we have enough rohirrim (and allies?) to win an attack from badgers because I'd hate to see badgers opening a pub serving rohir burgers. lol.

Badger attack would be awesome! Perhaps once the horse and rider pub is finished, we re-open the Aeldsel with a badger attack?

Maybe a bad idea but could we have the bagders attack the DR? Could be fun and would give the cavalry something to do and maybe if there aren't enough people signed up for the cavalry the townspeople could be rallied to help defend the military HQ?

@Rior Laegiel essentially the Cavalry would be responding to the pub, so that would partially be a Cavalry thing. But I will talk to Rowena and see what she thinks. It could be a lot of fun!

I just died a little from reading this! But I agree, the silliness from the early plaza days, and bringing back the badger burger is great. Didn't we manage to get both the badger burger and Dr. pepper into the bar menu in the Ældsel in some almost-believable Rohirric disguise, Eldrith? And Ama wasn't kidding, you'll find yourself a pubmistress again very soon! *lmao*

Dropping in to say hi and give virtual hugs. I still feel a burst of pride every time I watch the Rohirrim ride into the Battle of Pellinor Fields. My husband makes fun of me while I sit there sobbing. :smiley8:

I have solid memories of reading about AS herbs so it must have been thanks to you and your research!! :smiley17: I also did a LOT of linguistic research, I remember. I even took a semester of Old English grammar in highschool because of the Plaza. :smiley9:

I hope I'm allowed to wander into here, otherwise this could get awkward for a poor, lonely orc. I have a question for ye Riders of Rohan. The IK Poetry Competitions. Is this something any of you would like to see come back in this Plaza 2.0 world? Do you think that the idea is, in fact, a foolish endeavor that I'd be mad to restart? Do you even like poetry? Also, this is all Winddancer's fault for encouraging me.

Greetings everybody!

Khazaddum has recently started their own Newsletter, The Mirromere. We would love everyone from each kingdom to contribute to it. It can be anything. Poetry, prose, a pencil sketch, a painting, a short story. Literally anything creative. If this is something that would interest you, pop on over to our Editor's Office (link above) and put your name down.

Thanks!
Thorin

@Frost I'd be onboard for an IK Poetry Competition! I have very fond memories of participating in those back in the day!

@Shivased I know this isn't precisely the place for it, but I cannot figure out how to PM on here for the life of me--is there a chance I could take over one of the shops for sale in the Riddermarket? I've got ideas for updating my character and she'd make a great proprietress of CweÞ Ciese :smiley24: And perhaps we could offer fresh eggs there as well?

You got it, @Frost ! You might consider plugging the idea in The Cottage of Lost Play too, that seems an apt place to collect some more would-be poets

If I were an orc of any brain, I would have thought of that. Thank you @Thalionwen! I hadn't thought of that despite the fact that it would have been the best place for it. You rock!

@Thalionwen Sure, you're welcome to that shop! Selling Eggs works too. That's an odd food that never really did fit into any other shop, LOL. I'm not sure if PMing is available, so I really need to edit that post to say to tag me in here for now.

@Elarith - I knew you ran a shop, but couldn't remember which one!! Yes, you can have Siltan Bur back! I will update as soon as I have a few minutes. Remind me, what did it sell? Was it leather goods?

@Shivased I have vague memories of running Awesnis gærwe nædleprica in the Se Riddermarket for a time way back in the day (or at least apprenticing there. Honestly not sure anymore, lol!) I would love to run it this time around!

@Elarith Glad to hear the butcher shop will be back. I don’t know where I’d get the tallow for the candles otherwise. :smiley8:

@Thalionwen that cheese shop was the next stop for my young characters. Would you mind if I have him offer to help clean up or unload ? If you have other plans then I can just have him buy what he needs straight from you and be on his way.

@Veowyn I'll be taking over the seamstress shop in a post or two, probably. Since I noticed your characters are there at the moment, I didn't know if you wanted them to stick around for the shop switch. I have some ideas for how to make that work if you are interested, since you said that your characters' mother does dye work for the shop.

@Eldrith Just wanted to let you know I'll post in the Riddermarket by tomorrow! I am trying to get yard work and gardening done before the rain picks up again tomorrow, and I'm currently trying to learn how to crochet, so am crazy practicing granny squares in order to make my mum a blanket for Christmas!

@Shivased - Christmas is months away exactly how big is this blanket going to be? :smiley10:

If not already taken, could you please assign the Riddermarket Blacksmith to NPC Sheemie Rheus? Aodh shall be along soon to help him run it.

Just spreading the word, I was going through my old photobucket, and I saw I had boards from the old Word Sleuth games. And from the few games I officiated, I have all 26 letter tiles too. I have made a blank tile as well, just because.

@Aodh Hammerhelm Sorry, the blacksmith is already taken. Rowena runs that one. But if you want, there are other shops. How is Sheemie at leather work or harness-making? Maybe armour-smith? Also, the blanket isn't huge......but I just started crocheting 2 weeks ago so I figure it will take a while, LOL

Ooo @Aodh Hammerhelm if you do jewelry, I'm already working on a dwarven jewelry smith, she could be a supplier if you want. (If not that's ok just throwing the idea out)

@Veowyn Aodh used to run a goldsmith in the Riddermarket in days of yore. If you already have a jewellers up and running he can put his hand to something else?

@Aodh Hammerhelm Jewellery store is all free for you, though coming up with a name is your job, I can't remember what the name was. :smiley16: Let me know what the name is and if you are running the place with an NPC, and I will add you to the open shop list.

@Aodh Hammerhelm the other option is we don't have a weaponsmith yet, and I refuse to lump it with the blacksmith on principle. (Traditionally Blacksmiths don't do weapons just the tools and the like. Unless they are in a small village/town,)
