Noticed this poll in Gondor.
Thought the beginning is a good time to ask it.
RP ~ What Age?
Fourth -- from a Cav standpoint it makes more sense
Fourth. It works better from an RP and Cavalry standpoint. RP-wise, it makes more sense because then we have different races mingling in different kingdoms. We know, at least, that Merry and Pippin visited Rohan and Gondor, and though the elves mostly left Middle Earth, there was more movement between them and men. We already know that wasn't normal in the 3rd age, and ignoring that is just awkward.
I agree 4th as well. Like everyone has pointed out it's better from the RP standpoint. Plus for continuity for our characters from way back when.
So the 4th age has it 8 to 3. This percentage is pretty much echoed in the Gondor poll.
If my rusty memory serves true, this must have been the time slot when I joined (before the reversion to canon in 2010/2011)?
Éomer & Éowyn ruled the Mark which intimates Théoden, Théodred etc had perished. But to muddy my recollections, there were numerous appearances in threads by Grima and The Nine.

@Aodh Hammerhelm We frequently played fast and loose with characters who might not fit into a fourth age timeline, especially when it came to awarding special character ranks. Never in the truly serious threads, though, at least that I can recall.
I think my favorite was the Dead Theodred special icon.

@Eléowyn Oh, The dead Theodred! I have a distinct memory of someone wearing that icon following me around threads once when I was a ruler, pretending to be ghost Theodred haunting Eowyn. It was hilarious!
@Shivased wasn't that Egeslic?
@Rowena Ellenweorc probably. It was something right up his alley LOL
I miss that kid!
Fourth Age is perfect. It's where (most) of us begin our Plaza lives and adventures. Phew! remember the ructions when everything reverted to canon & the Third Age? I'm sure that change drove off a few folk - so many people were deeply invested in their original characters and story lines. Ah well, here we are back where we started - and to make an end is to make beginning.
